RTS injury

Also lets not write off the season like most people did when SJ went down last year. This is what builds character and most of the squad went through it last year. Im still picking we make the 8

By "most people" you mean the players and coaching staff?

I'd say Lolohea to FB is the most obvious answer. Of course there is Wells but unsure how hes been doing.

Then in the halves, you can go with TL, Robson, Lino or Hingano
I'd go with one of the younger ones now tbh. Robson, you had your chance dropsy.
TL on bench for me.
If now isn't the chance to try Lino or Hingano, then when is?

Sounds like Tui to FB, TL to 5/8th and hopefully Wells gets to debut on the wing and move to FB after a few games

I really like this idea. Long term would be great to keep Tui in the halves. This would be a softer way to introduce Wells and the move him to fullback when he's got a bit of experience under his belt.

We don't know the full effect RTS's injury will have but here's my top five 'worst injuries' since 2000:

1. Johnson - 2015. Still fresh in our memories.

2. Ali - 2003, after the GF in 2002 we were looking forward to even better things, he missed most of the season.

3. Vatuvei and Ropati - 2007, both were injured in our last round game at Penrith, they were in form and were probably the reason we lost both our finals games.

4. McKinnon - 2008, what a season he had in '07, but he was injured in pre-season. "You've got to be joking?", was Cleary's reaction when McKinnon told him he was out for the season.

5. Luck - 2012, like '03, a GF the previous year and high hopes for going one better, the new coach struggled and desperately needed Luck out there steadying a faltering team.

The fact that we went on with the game and won it will be so important for team morale moving forward. They'll believe they can still win without Roger- compare that to what happen after SJ went down last year.

At some stage I'd like to see them try Johnson at fullback - he'll hate it but f**k him.

I have one simple wish for Johnson - play like he did on the weekend. I've never seen Shaun control a game so beautifully as he did on the weekend. 3 try assists, his kicking game was epic, he seemed to be playing what he saw in front of him to a tee. So, a big no to me to him going to fullback, I just want him to take ownership like that.

As far as RTS's injury being bad, the one I feel for a bit is Tui. He waited so long to get the #6 jersey and now he's back at the back. That said, he's just dynamite so while we lose workrate, his creativity and explosiveness is excellent, and he is by far a superior defender than RTS. IMO, Tui should be a lay down sally for Kiwis fullback.

All good, Brad Abbey's gtg as a replace-.....

Oh, that's right. Bugger

Seen him a bit in reserve grade for Canterbury, and he looks pedestrian. The same thing happened at Canterbury, their #1 fullback went down and he was overlooked. I don't think he was seriously in consideration TBH. He's just a young kid who is a fair way of first grade, fair amount of potential obviously but I don't think he makes much difference in 2016.

Does Locke come in the picture?

f**k no. Not even with five more injuries to potential fullbacks.

I dunno if it's an opinion that has been stated before but I don't think this is as tragic as it might be painted out to be.

Is a spine of Tui/Tommy/SJ/Luke worse than RTS/SJ/Tui/Luke? I'm not sure it is. Tui plays his best position, which is fullback (IMO) he still chimes into the line and gets a lot of pill in his hands, while not having gas taken out of the tank by defending in the line. He can pick his moments.

SJ had a fire lit under him last week and hopefully he kicks on. I don't know what fans would want more than he produced last week. He didn't run for 3 tries etc but he set up 3. That's his job.

And Tommy, for 60 minutes, looked like what we wanted Robson to be. Made his tackles, took some ball off SJ, linked well and didn't make any errors. That's enough too, right?

I don't think we'll drop our bundle based on RTS not being there. The expectations placed on the coach shouldn't change one iota. Another injury to 1/6/7 would, but not now.

.

Agree, but history says he won't for more than a few games...
