RTS injury

Packer and Locke, the return of the brat pack. What could possibly go wrong?

Maybe we should offer them Sione and the Gubbster.

Difference being, Packer has been to jail and faced repercussions of his behaviour. Locke has just been shunted from club to club, knowing there's always another gullible one around the corner.

Go right ahead Dragons, if Kevin Locke is the answer you're asking the wrong questions. f**k me, go Mundine before him.

I have one simple wish for Johnson - play like he did on the weekend. I've never seen Shaun control a game so beautifully as he did on the weekend. 3 try assists, his kicking game was epic, he seemed to be playing what he saw in front of him to a tee. So, a big no to me to him going to fullback, I just want him to take ownership like that.
.

This, unfortunately he only really turns in a class effort like that 1 in 10, if that

We don't know the full effect RTS's injury will have but here's my top five 'worst injuries' since 2000:

1. Johnson - 2015. Still fresh in our memories.

2. Ali - 2003, after the GF in 2002 we were looking forward to even better things, he missed most of the season.

3. Vatuvei and Ropati - 2007, both were injured in our last round game at Penrith, they were in form and were probably the reason we lost both our finals games.

4. McKinnon - 2008, what a season he had in '07, but he was injured in pre-season. "You've got to be joking?", was Cleary's reaction when McKinnon told him he was out for the season.

5. Luck - 2012, like '03, a GF the previous year and high hopes for going one better, the new coach struggled and desperately needed Luck out there steadying a faltering team.

Some great names and memories there!

Especially 2007, really was on fire until those injuries...
... and of course PASS THE F*CKING BALL LOGAN

I've heard before about a quicker ACL recovery surgery that some AFL player had in the USA, does it not work for Rugby League players?

That's the LARS procedure I assume.

As far as I understand it's still very much a developing technology - right now those ligaments they put in have a higher rate of failure (re-injury over the next year, 5 years, 10 years etc) than the traditional procedure. So it's a gamble.

f**k some of you guys are miserable pricks.

You are dumping crap on a guy who (only 2 years ago) was voted best player on the planet and only a year ago had us heading for finals. Breaking his leg is no excuse, I guess.

Get over yourselves, SJ is one of rugby leagues super stars..

Agree mate. He's been back from a serious injury for 7 games and played well in 3 of those. Not bad going really considering the nature of the injury.

It seems like that's what we do as a society sometimes. Shaun volunteers his Saturday morning to go brighten a few kids' lives at Manurewa, when a lot of his peers are at home playing FIFA or something as equally unconstructive, and the facebook comment squad give him shit about concentrating on his game, being a media whore etc.

gotta say i agree with Ozbash here. Ive followed many sports teams from around the world from Barcelona to the Houston Rockets and ive never seen a franchise player from any team get as much hate from his own teams "fans" as Johnson does.

Only time ive seen it happen is when a player quit on his own team and ive yet to see Johnson show any sign of giving up on his own team.

Your opinion - and fair enough.
Best player on the planet? What planet were the judges on?
SJ is one of the best broken field runners I have seen. He is not even close to being one of the best halfbacks I have seen.
If he pulled his head in and played his best he may get somewhere. If he stays the princess of social media he will turn into a David Beckham. A legend in his own mind.
My opinion - SJ does what is best for SJ; **** the team.

Just my opinion.

Johnson winning the golden boot was on the back of a *handful* of golden boot worthy performances that year, including for the Kiwis. He as usual didn't turn up for large parts of the NRL season, it was a joke that he got named the best player in the world.

No one is denying his ability as a ball runner, he does things that almost nobody else in the world can. Is he a quality halfback though? Hell no. Last week's performance was one in a dozen, that's not enough if you want NRL success. We need him to become a 26 round player, not just a big game player.

Don't make it personal, I don't think any of his critics are slamming him as a person. I think he is a stand up guy and I have lots of respect for they way he carries himself off the field. A genuine role model, especially as you say compared to some of the muppets around him.

saw last year how much SJ is of value...case closed

He was there in 2012, 2013 and 2014 too mate, all dog seasons. If anything last year highlighted how this team falsely depends too much him, rather than what he actually brings to the table.

We slam him because we know he is capable of much better than his "two runs for ten metres" performances, similar to the way we rightfully expected more from say Tomkins. On their own they're fine, but relative to their potential it's disappointing.
