If people were rational and logical they'd support a merger of the Australian rugby world. What happens when corporates merge? They combine the biggest strengths of each side to make a better new combined entity.
What is rugby league's advantage in Australia? The domestic scene. What is rugby union's advantage? The international scene.
So what is the logical solution? Pool together all the money and resources both sides have. Play one great domestic rugby league competition that combines all of the best union talent into the NRL. Then allow everyone to be eligible for selection for the Wallabies and play rugby union in international competition.
That is win win. Think about what your enemies would hate you doing. How much do you think the AFL would hate a Union-League merger? How much do you think the all blacks would hate a Wallabies team with a much bigger talent pool to pick from?
This is the way forward.
Are you sure you're not T-Boon in disguise? Because that's T-Boon level stupid.
Lets play Rugby LEAGUE all year, then pick the best players for the Wallabies to go and play UNION at international level? Sure, why not?
BTW, when corporates merge? They
sometimes combine the biggest strengths of each side to make a better new combined entity. But mostly, one just takes the assets of the other and continues doing what they did before.
