NRL won’t bend to the RWC in Australia. I’d assume stadiums won’t be blocked outRugby may block out the stadiums like FIFA for women's world cup.
Not sure what grounds they plan on using
It's Rugby Union so it's only green grass and daffodils in Peter's Rugby bubble. It's a great result for world rugby and shows how the game is growing (as opposed to how the game is shrinking in Australia)I want to hear more from pirate Pete this morning, but it’ll probably be more league bashing to get the clicks
They’ll definitely try. NZ ended up losing co-hosting rights in for the RWC 2003 because they refused to agree to a “clean stadium policy” with all existing sponsorship removed.NRL won’t bend to the RWC in Australia. I’d assume stadiums won’t be blocked out
2003 they started October 10 so I expect they will do similar this time around. If the 2027 world cup in Australia is played during the same dates the group stages will be played at the same time as the NRL and AFL finals. The RUWC will struggle to get much media attention, especially in the AFL states.
But if rugby league wants to be aggressive and not allow any fresh air to Rugby they'll have internationals after the NRL season played during the RUWC finals. Having Fiji, NZ, Tonga, Samoa, PNG, Australia and a touring England playing a tournament would take away media and air from the RUWC. I wonder if League would have the balls to do it ?
Why do you say silly things like this?Nobody is watching that World Cup
2027 will be half empty stadiums
I remember that happening and it was a major loss for NZ and tourism, however I don’t see the ARU having the pull to limit stadiums during the WC and during NRL finals. I’m not sure what the ARU promised but there will be two major codes in finals mode that won’t give up grounds. They’ll definitely try. NZ ended up losing co-hosting rights in for the RWC 2003 because they refused to agree to a “clean stadium policy” with all existing sponsorship removed.
Wallabies and country's with a large ex pat community ( NZ, South Africa ) will have big crowds but I'd be stunned if all countries are played in packed stadiums. Rugby doesn't resonate with the larger sporting public. Why do you say silly things like this?
It will be very well attended
According to Wikipedia (I know, I know) the event will be held 10 September – 23 October 2027. Perhaps Leichhardt Oval, Bathurst, Tamworth, Mackay etc will be holding games in the pool rounds2003 they started October 10 so I expect they will do similar this time around.
You got your tickets yet ?Why do you say silly things like this?
It will be very well attended
Disagree. Namibia v Romania will sell out Accor.Wallabies and country's with a large ex pat community ( NZ, South Africa ) will have big crowds but I'd be stunned if all countries are played in packed stadiums. Rugby doesn't resonate with the larger sporting public.
Win a pool game = arrive on the international stage? It's Rugby Union so it's only green grass and daffodils in Peter's Rugby bubble. It's a great result for world rugby and shows how the game is growing (as opposed to how the game is shrinking in Australia)
But those comments from the Rara mob ! YIKES, not so positive
Wallabies’ historic humiliation is a great result for world rugby
While Australia were very ordinary, the Fijians were something else entirely. They are a great and superbly coached side who have now, officially, arrived on the world stage.www.smh.com.au
They’ll play the less fancied teams at provincial grounds that rarely get international sport and they’ll pull decent crowds from the novelty.Disagree. Namibia v Romania will sell out Accor.
That’s exactly what I’d expect will happen.According to Wikipedia (I know, I know) the event will be held 10 September – 23 October 2027. Perhaps Leichhardt Oval, Bathurst, Tamworth, Mackay etc will be holding games in the pool rounds
Was thinking getting grounds would be problematic - unless we of course stage a 4 nations tournament at Shark Park to make sure that the NRL's new hotel gets plenty of useRugby may block out the stadiums like FIFA for women's world cup.
Not sure what grounds they plan on using
the 2003 union world cup had its first game on October 10 - no reason to think the start wouldn't be similar next time around.I'd say they'll play after the big boys.
It will be a big tournament, the Poms, Scots, Welsh, Irish, French and Saffas will come in droves.
Then it will be gone and union will be 8th tier again.
hmm - wiki also has the list of stadiums as all the major ones e.g. SFS, Accor, WSW, Suncorp, MCG, Adelaide OvalAccording to Wikipedia (I know, I know) the event will be held 10 September – 23 October 2027. Perhaps Leichhardt Oval, Bathurst, Tamworth, Mackay etc will be holding games in the pool rounds
2 beautiful countries and rugby powerhouses to boot.Disagree. Namibia v Romania will sell out Accor.
