That Winfield Cup mod looks amazing. I don't have a PC at home so I'll never be getting that, such a shame.

I ended up ordering this game for my X1 on eBay. Should be turning up in the next day or so, looking forward to giving it a thrashing.

Thought I would post some captures from the "Winfield Cup" mod I mentioned before.

Bear in mind that this does not contain full squads from select years/seasons of NSWRL/ARL/NRL etc. but more like All Time Great teams - for example I am currently playing a career as the Knights, of which the bulk of the squad is from around the 1997 grand final team, with some players like Sargent, Ashley Gordon, Brett Grogan (lol) thrown in as well.

I just played 2 matches - 1 against Balmain where I was pipped by an Andy Currier field goal, and then I just ran roughshod over the baby Broncos, as they were decimated by Origin selection. Check out the pics below...

Robbie O'Davis celebrating a try with Mark Hughes against Balmain:

HAHAHA thats awesome.

Reminds me of the modding done on Rugby League 2

Some Raiders fans created a massive patch complete with edited comps, more commentary and all the old teams.

Was so good.

So I finally just got this game. Enjoying it so far. As per my expectation, it's nowhere near as bad as people have been saying. There are obviously flaws, some are annoying, but you can still have a lot of fun with it.

Couple of questions that someone else may have figured out already:

- How do you edit players? I go into fanhub, click edit players, click the player I want to edit and it brings up their attributes, but doesn't let me change anything. I'm sure I must be doing something wrong as I haven't seen anyone else mention this yet.

- When in a game, is there a way to bring up the name of the player who has the ball? They always have your player's name highlighted on the screen at the bottom, but when you're in defence it's good to know who has the ball as well. Ideally they should tell you who the ballplayer is, and who your selected player is. The options are really limited outside of changing the camera angle.

- Oh one other one, how do you do the drag tackle. I saw something like pushing the right analog stick, but that doesn't seem to have worked. I've only played about 5 or 6 games though so I haven't really had a proper play with this aspect yet.

Give it a week. Then you'll start to see more cracks, and then it'll hit you. The fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men cruel.

Yeah I remember I had a honeymoon period with the game of just over 2 weeks (couldnt take it back then!) then all the missfalls were too hard to overcome.
Apparentely the latest Rugby Challenge game is done and dusted so the guys at BA (Ruck n Ross) are confident the patch will be out soon

You say that, but then again people said the exact same thing for RLL2, and I got many months of enjoyment out of it. I'm not a hardcore gamer, I just like to pick it up and have a bit of fun - so a few issues here and there don't bother me that much. You just learn to not exploit the loopholes and it creates a fun and enjoyable game (I don't play online, so it was pretty easy to work out which glitches you should avoid exploiting to have a good, fair game).

I was the same with RLL2 and played it for ages but I couldn't cope with the bugginess of RLL3.

I'll give it another try with the patch though and see how it goes.

How do you download it on Xbox one? I wasn't prompted and can't see anywhere it could be

On PlayStation I wasn't prompted either I just got told it was out and went check for updates.

I can't really see many differences. You can now change your jersey in career mode, also a couple HUD additions like when the opposition attacks you can get a name thing like you usually do for your own side and now every time you pass a lil button icon comes up with the number of the player and an F or a B for a forward or a back.

I can't really notice anything gameplay wise though I only played one game.

If you have your Xbox set to always on it would've automatically started downloading. If not, and you aren't prompted for an update upon launching the game, perform a hard reset by holding the power button until the console shuts off.

I didn't really get much time with the game before the patch, so it's hard for me to compare.

There are some definite good things about it though. Forwards are slightly more useful, when your player intercepts the ball or picks up a loose ball they don't automatically kick it because you pressed B anymore either which is nice. You can change jerseys before a match in career mode and more importantly (for me anyway) they increased the options you can pick when choosing how long you want the half to be.

I'm still rubbish at tackling. I don't really like the timing mechanism for tackling, it doesn't seem right, I think you're supposed to hold down a tackle button for a certain amount of time if you want it to be successful, but the vast majority of the time the player has run past you by the time the tackle meter gets full. I know there is the double tap Y option, but that seems to drain stamina big-time.

To answer your original question - the game definitely isn't worse after the patch and there are definitely improvements, so..... yes, you should download the patch.

Only played one SOO game with it. One thing I did notice was that Thaiday took an intercept and I was actually able to run him down. Usually it wouldn't matter who it was, they'd go the length.
