That Faeces Capone is the only other good poster over there.
I wish blokes like Henry and Capone posted around here.

Feces is having an intellectual debate about the merits of taniela lassalo as a player with a guy who reckons lassalo is "medioca"

Didn't you say in one of your other threads than we're a lot closer to winning a comp or making the finals then Penrith are?

Yes prior to signings-peachey-idirs-wallace-naqiama.

Every signings They have made from last year has worked out so I think there spotting is better.I reckon this years will all come god too.Peachey Naiquama and Elijah Taylor could become stars of the NRL.

PARRA are closer than a lot of teams to win comp.Melbourne I think are just about dust.Cowboys have 2 yrs tops than thurstons done.Id say Manlys run is over as is the DOGS, and broncos are all over the place.
Sure they may find a few players but parra would be a year infront of them.

You don't really need a Hayne or Inglis if you have an all round competent squad... look at Manly over the past decade. The thing with Penrith is they have a lot of good young players who are only going to get better. People keep saying that we'll be better off next year with Tanginoa, Paulo, Pritchard to improve, well Penrith are a year ahead of us in that regard with the players they've graded already showing the goods in first grade. They seem to have a good plan, and Gould is a smart operator. They only just missed the finals this year after their injury toll kicked in, I'd expect them to go better next year with the side they have.

players at manly you could class as marquee

- DCE
- Foran
- Lyon
- Watmough
- Stewart 1
- Stewart 2

They have strike weapons all over the park. manly was a terrible example to use.

penrith would look 3 times better with any one of those players

None of Manly's players excel at rep level. That shows none of them are genuine stars. They're just a team full of good players that feed off each other.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

you could say that about anyone who lines up for nsw (or should be but won't ;))

you seem to forget or are unaware though DCE just took out the RLIF halfback of the year and cleaned house during the nrl finals with individual accolades whilst foran won kiwis player of the year.

not sure why a players star value should be restricted to rep though considering we're talking about winning an nrl premiership which most of qld's side didn't win

Hayne, Gallen, Bird all star for NSW. SBW and Shaun Johnson star for NZ.

DCE and Foran are always overshadowed in their rep teams, which shows there are better players playing in a team with the same level of ruck dominance (and thus opportunity).

how did foran get overshadowed when he took out their player of the year you imbecile?

so according to you nsw has 3 marquee players in the entire nrl. you're speaking out of your arse as usual. a rep player regardless which state he reps is better than the collection of sub city/country dwellers penrith is putting together

Not sure I can agree with that. I mean:

* Anthony Watmough has routinely been NSW's most damaging forward;

* Jamie Lyon, IMO, could easily handle Origin and Test footy still. He's a freak.

* Cherry-Evans did pretty damn well in the World Cup, and often as a dummy-half.

* Matai does for New Zealand what he does for Manly.

Manly, in my humble opinion, have a great squad.

In fact, if I were to personally scrutinise their squad, their only "let down" (and I use the term loosely) would be their right forwards - and even then, they're good enough to make (and even win) Grand Finals, so...

By never being the best player on the field for his team. A national team's player-of-the-year award is more political than even an NRL club's equivalent award.

My point is there are only a few walk up starts for the three genuine rep teams NSW, QLD and NZ. Outside of these handful of legit superstars, there are another hundred or so players that will make the team (or not) based on their club team's form.

Do you disagree that players look better in some teams than in others? Look at Horo and Harrison; neither was/is a genuine first grader at Parramatta, but both play/played well at Manly.
