I don't understand why we would move Mansour. He's eligible for long service allowance soon and he adds more value than our current long serving player - McKendry. He's probably the worst choice to move on.

I think if lost Mansour (I don't believe we will) Dylan Edwards would be his replacement.

I see Ross as a reserve grade signing. Maybe to cover to loss of a Jennings or Will smith?

I can't remember when he said it but Gus effectively said we signed Mansour as a promising player but his potential has been realised and is now a representative winger in all forms and will be difficult to keep regardless of whether we want to.

I don't think spending big dollars on a winger is necessary but he deserves to be a well paid winger. How much that is, I don't know.

The best thing we can hope for is that we have enough players who didn't or won't reach their potential and can be offloaded.

If we play TMM and Cleary in the halves next year, move Soward, Latimore, Matagi, Segeyaro on and with the increased cap there shouldnt be a reason we cant retain both Jennings brothers and Mansour. In saying that though when Hiku and Whare come back next year we will have DWZ, Blake, Mansour, Whare and Hiku trying to fit into 4 positions, ideally would be a good time to push Moylan to 5/8 but i see TMM and Cleary the future halves pairing, unless either Hiku or Whare go i would say that either Blake will be playing NSW Cup or Mansour would be looking elsewhere for a contract in 2017.

It doesn't make sense to me that any NRL club would pay huge money for a specialist winger , so if we lose Mansour because of money I hope it's to French RU or something where he gets a massive deal.

A few reasons:
1) We wouldn't be wanting to move...Josh's manager is asking for a substantial salary that if he gets it would only be offered by French/Japanese Rugby.
2) You don't spend massive money on a winger no matter who it is....remember how everyone was so stoked that Luke Rooney got signed to massive money...look how that turned out. Dave Simmons proved that you don't need a high priced winger to be effective. Dylan Edwards and others will battle hard for a wing spot.
3) Guys of that style of play, being very physical...break down the quickest. More than likely we've gotten the best years of Mansour and whatever we pay will likely only get 1 more year...Maybe 2...of that quality that he'd be worth that level of pay
4) Moylan eligible for that long serving discount I believe at the same time as Josh and far more important to absorb his contract at a more worthwhile position.

Now...in a perfect situation we sign Mansour to a reasonable salary and we move on from McKendry & Latimore to fund the Tamou deal and then we have 2018 cap sorted as Moylan gets long serving discount and we can re-sign guys coming off contract next year as a result.

My memory must be hazy because I seem to recall Mansour debuting for us at least a year or two ahead of Moylan.

I had thought he was eligible by 2018...I could be wrong.

But still doesn't really change main point being that even with the discount it appears too much to retain.

I certainly hope we do retain him but.

Long Serving Player Allowance (players who have played eight continuous years of grade football with that club including Toyota Cup and NSW Cup). - http://m.nrl.com/nrl-salary-cap-explained/tabid/10874/newsid/58360/default.aspx

Length of service revised to 6 years in 2014 - http://m.nrl.com/nrl-announces-salary-cap-changes/tabid/10874/newsid/78232/default.aspx.

Moylan should qualify comfortably?

I think Tamou will be enormous for us, particularly given the number of quality front rowers we already have signed up. He is surely the icing on the cake so to speak.

I'm not sure U20s would count as 'grade' though would it. Otherwise Moylan would be eligible this year and I'd be looking to move Mckendry on.

I think Soward, Latimore and Seg will be gone after this year. Latimore and Matagi will probably see the writing on the wall. They would have no problems finding a 100-150k contract i think.
If Moylan moves we move DWZ and fit everyone into the backline. If Moylan stays at the back I imagine DWZ leaves and we have Hiku, Whare, Blake, Mansour

Moylan, Mansour, Hiku/Blake, Whare, DWZ, Martin, Cleary, Tamou, Wallace, RCG, Cartwright, Yeo, Merrin, Peachey, Grevsmuhl, Latu, JFH

Side looks pretty damn good for next year. Leota, Kikau, Gennings, Rennings, Edwards, Katoa and Luke offering great depth across the park. Halves is obviously the question mark but both young guys have shown they can handle it defensively and have all the attributed to be dominant, plus have Moylan, Wallace, Cartwright, Latu, Peachey and JFH who can all step in and take some pressure off by running plays.
