I make balanced posts all the time,
Unfortunately they get overridden by the howling crys of negative so called "panther fans" who rather pile crap on the clubs management rather than accept that our senior playing group need upgrades to stay senior, and those on the cusp juniors or extremely seniors have to move on, its just facts of living within the salary cap

So very true. Or you get the screaming of 'you've got your head buried in the sand' or 'You're a sheep'.

No I live with the reality that the club won't get to keep all the juniors we bring through.......It's sad but it's true.

Also players age and when that happens they get moved on. Father time is at the ready for everyone once they hit 30.

I remember a little old lady once saying when I asked whether a certain player was re-signing or not.

She said....' I just cheer for whomever runs out in a Panther jersey'. This lady had sat in the same seat western grandstand since 1967. Hardly ever missed a game. Went through the highs and the lows.

She is what I call a Panther Fan.

The latter is more where this squad sits. Guys barely on minimum wage dominated last year now need a rise

Throw in guys wanting to play top grade. Either older or young this is the fallout

Quite sad you feel that way.

I’ve followed our club since 1970 when as a ten year old my family moved into South Penrith.

Follow our team home and away, brought our three kids up as Panther fans even if the middle son for no good reason other than he liked a certain Sharks player decided to change allegiances to support the Sharks. Still hurts me to this day.

You can laugh out all you like I guess but it is somewhat disappointing. By all means have a different opinion to mine but to question my loyalty to the Panthers is sad.
I hope you cut the middle son out of the will

At the end of the day were all going around in circles.

Some seem to think all is fine and dandy, others hold an opposite view.

By all means lets see where the cards fall around Crichton and Lenui and thereafter lets see who will fill our remaining roster spots with because clearle there will be vacancies.

We’ve got the best halfback in the comp. Weve got a top 3 five eighth, hooker, second rower, prop and lock. Outside of that, no one would be surprised if To’o, Staines, Leota, Martin or Leota were Origin reps in the next few years.

Our team is absolutely stacked and our spine is the best in the league. Now they know what it takes to win it. I suspect people that look at our GF 21 in 10 years are going to be astonished.

I’m so frustrated at not having re-signing news yet but a year ago I was rueing 8 hard years of rebuilding pissed into the wind.

As others have said if we can wrap up Luai and Yeo we will continue to be a force. Crichton and Leniu would be ideal and if we can turn Burton/Laurie into Cini and Wakeham then we’ll have absolutely smashed this off season.

Cini has not been confirmed. Also, are we actively looking at Wakeham?

The people complaining now would be the some ones complaining next year when we are struggling to keep fish and kikau which is what will happen if we give Burton and leniu ridiculous money.
Agreed. Should be looking to extend these 2 & Api for 2 years. Get Luai & Yeo done for 3 years each then you have your core (including Cleary) until 2024.
Other players can have the dregs of the cap.

Mate, you are smart enough to know that is not true.

You are well aware managing the salary cap is difficult as you rightly point out.

Managaing a salary cap is very strategic and managment need to look well beyond 2021.

Our current situation from my reading should have been about priorities, which deals were more important than others to get the job done.

I would have thought, and I'm sure you feel the same way, it should have been a priority for us going forward to lock up the likes of Crichton and Lenui.

It's very difficult to see how we have done our business very well given there were clearly priorities that were not secured and they should have been.

We may well get the job done, I'm confident we will but it shouldn't have come to this.

Viliame Kikau whom you mention is an interesting one. I'm not sure where we go with Kikau, no idea what he is currently earning and no idea what he may want to demand in the future but much like RCG I'm just not sure he has quite earnt the huge bucks. I know he get's the kudo's, is considered the best wide running back rower in the game picked by his peers, but you know what Im just not sold on him. I just don't know that he quite delivers. Obviously just me, but I just can't help feeling we should get more from him.

Look at the 17 in the GF. Atleast 5 or 6 would be on close to minimum wage. Laurie for example is stil development contract. So you double a few of those guys suddenly are under cap pressure
