Kilkenny I know the same people complaining the loudest this year are the same ones that were complaining the loudest after last year. If Leniu leaves it will be because our management didn’t want to pay what he was asking. Paying ridiculous money for a 20 year old prop when we already have a young contending team would be incredibly stupid imo. If you are going to throw ridiculous money at a 20yo it has to be a spine player or like Crichton someone who can move there. Our top 17 is ridiculous talented, the amount of negativity in here is becoming really over the top, just be patient ffs. People are just complaining cause they want news now.

I respect your opinion because I know you have a passion for our club and that is the most important thing even if we share differences of opinion from time to time.

I’ve only ever said, it is my opinion we should had Crichton and Lenui locked up and not got ourselves in the position we now find ourselves in.

I just think it is disappointing two players critical to our future prospects going forward we’re not signed sealed and delivered but I take your point about paying overs which is entirely valid.

Absolutely and as many have pointed out that was there right.

I have no issues with that whatsoever.

Look whatever eventuates it doesn’t alter the fact we on here will all still be members or season ticket holders.

We will still support the team in 2021 regardless of whether Crichton or Lenui are part of our team or not.

It’s just a real shame. It really is. We all enjoyed the post game interviews, seeing our team singing our victory chant on 19 or more occasions this season and sadly post season hasn’t gone smoothly and I’m just not sure anyone expected things to go the way it has.

Just acknowledge thats not what you said and all good.

Who cares, I don’t our GF team were all on $200k or more it is no big deal.

This whole debate is around whether we will be in better shape in 2021 and beyond.

You think we are all good while I can’t help but feel we are going slightly backwards unless there are kids in our ranks we don’t know about yet.

It’s definitely disappointing these kids are not signed up but we can’t a gun to their heads and force them to sign the deal that its best for us. At the very least these young guys all have a manager trying get as much as possible, they probably have family members, friends and even team mates telling them to look out for themselves.

The club is obviously going to end up paying more than they wanted to for Crichton, and they seem to be trying hard to free up more money so they aren’t just letting every kid go without a fight but if we pay to many guys more than we wanted to this off-season we will be in trouble next off-season. We should be trying very hard to keep leniu but our forward pack already has kikau, fish, Yeo who are stars in their positions now. We have capewell who just played a big role in that origin series and Martin who is already knocking on the door. How much money do you think we can spend on leniu, weren’t you worrying about us losing our depth not to long ago? I could be wrong but Leniu is a special talent.

It’s not for me to decide how much money we outlay to retain Leniu the powers that be are much more in a better position to determine that than me what would I know.

All I know is he has huge potential, much more potential than just about any of our current forwards and that includes Kikau.

I really see Leniu as being our future, our enforcer, our equivalent of a David Fifita so it would be devastating to lose him in my opinion.

Mate, you are smart enough to know that is not true.

You are well aware managing the salary cap is difficult as you rightly point out.

Managaing a salary cap is very strategic and managment need to look well beyond 2021.

Our current situation from my reading should have been about priorities, which deals were more important than others to get the job done.

I would have thought, and I'm sure you feel the same way, it should have been a priority for us going forward to lock up the likes of Crichton and Lenui.

It's very difficult to see how we have done our business very well given there were clearly priorities that were not secured and they should have been.

We may well get the job done, I'm confident we will but it shouldn't have come to this.

Viliame Kikau whom you mention is an interesting one. I'm not sure where we go with Kikau, no idea what he is currently earning and no idea what he may want to demand in the future but much like RCG I'm just not sure he has quite earnt the huge bucks. I know he get's the kudo's, is considered the best wide running back rower in the game picked by his peers, but you know what Im just not sold on him. I just don't know that he quite delivers. Obviously just me, but I just can't help feeling we should get more from him.

I think the DT reported Kikau's new deal he signed was reported to be 700-750K for what it's worth. He delivers about 3/5s of the tries/line breaks down that edge. Pretty much that amount of tries/line breaks were caused by a player being worried about Kikau and coming in on him instead of marking/sliding on who they were suppose to be or less commonly Kikau was directly involved. Crichton in particular owes Kikau plenty of beers for all that Kiks has done for his career. Centres don't walk over untouched often in a season through a backline movement but he did it about 6 or 7 times thanks to Kikau. I don't know if his new deal kicked in after he signed or it was extension.
