So was I. 9th July,1973.

From the kick-off, little long haired Reg Walton made a break, and the crowd anticipation was that we were up for this game. Post game a few days after revealed hat most of the team had a bad doe of the flu.

Strange that there seemed to be a hell of a lot more than 6,750 at Penrith Park on that day.
I was there as soon as Dennis Tutty got injured the floodgates opened.

I understand that, but to base an opinion on FG games only is a little disingenuous because of his limited time there. To say he CAN'T play there because he hasn't played in that position enough in first grade is a chicken/egg argument. We won't know until it happens - but using his lower grades as something of a measuring stick, we can say, confidently in my opinion, that he'd be at the very least serviceable in that position.

To call him a *gun* based on lower grades is disingenuous.

Of course there is a limit but do you really want to be relying on Whare next year? Naden is up in the air, we are much thinner in the backs right now. I think you might not be giving Eisenhuth enough credit. I think he can match what Tetavano did for us on the field in terms of production.

Obviously the centre stocks are thin, so we’d be in no position to release Crichton for 2021. But we’d have 500k to find another centre for 2022.

I hope I’m wrong on Eisenhuth, it sounds like I’ll need to be. But I don’t think I am. Having him as the fourth prop weakens our rotation.

Now they are thin. In 12 months who knows no lower grades hurt a few guys

Ativalu Lisati is a backrower. Speed like JAC and is SG Ball age but will play Flegg and likely NSW Cup

Hopgood is in Development squad. Played under 20's Origin in 2019

Burns is contracted until 2022. Hard to predict how fast he develops

May played a game this year on the edge

So there are options should we not get a middle and make the move

Still, what do you base your assessment of Martin being a “gun” middle on?

Assuming Fish, Yeo, Leota and Leniu dont improve then it weakens our rotation.

Yep. The middle he was cutting people in half all game. Certainly not the worst option

So you’re calling him a “gun” based on lower grades?

There’s a long way between him being a gun and “not the worst option”. I’m sure he can play prop at least adequately, but seems way too premature to be calling him a gun.

They can’t always been on the field. The problem is when they’re subbed off, particularly JFH. And unlike last year, we’re only a single injury from the rotation being much weaker.

NRL announces rule changes to make game more entertaining

The NRL has announced several rule changes for the 2021 Telstra Premiership season to make the game "faster, more free-flowing, entertaining and unpredictable".

The changes are:

  • the introduction of a two-point field goal for kicks taken from more than 40 metres out;
  • six-again to be called for 10-metre infringements;
  • penalties for teams if they leave a scrum before a referee calls "break";
  • a play-the-ball restart if the ball or player with the ball goes over the sideline;
  • The Bunker will now review replays after an on-field referee awards a try but a conversion attempt will not be allowed until it gets the green light;
  • injured players will be interchanged if a trainer ask for play to be stopped;
  • when a captain's challenge is inconclusive a team will not be docked for an unsuccessful attempt;
  • and a handover will be ordered when a player does not make a genuine attempt to play the ball correctly with their foot.

Made this team as a middle

https://www.nswrl.com.au/news/2018/09/21/2018-intrust-super-premiership-nsw-team-of-the-year/

I think we will get another 2 or so middles and won't move him but there are worst players who could move

Calling him a gun based on form 3 years ago in lower grades is ridiculous.

Of course we’re going to sign at least another prop, but they’re going to be fillers. You can’t get anyone decent below 300k.

And as if to prove my point, Caleb Aekins was fullback in that 2018 team. Lower grades means almost nothing.

I know what the new rules are. I just don’t understand which new rule helps us if we play Martin in the middle?
