In a 7 Million dollar cap, the average of each 25 in your top squad will earn 280k, or 4%
baring in mind the back end of your squad is filled with guys who are on U20's graduates and journeyman who would be lucky to get $150k or 2.1% (for us guys like Sami Sailuma, Shannon Boyd, Jarrad Kennedy and Langi Setu would be here)
450k for a starting winger is 6.5%, i don't think that's an erroneous figure for a clear upgrade. You guys have the benefit of having an absolute log jam of guns in the backline, so you dont need to pay that kind of money. We've got Edrick Lee and Reece Robinson, and when Eddie's hurt we're calling in Billy Tupou and Sami Sailuma, we need to pay that money.
Why are we talking about Sticky's coaching career in the Signings thread?
We've got Dugan's money (650k from memory), Fergo's money (around 400k), Campese's money (from everything ive heard, he's going to Warrington at the end of the year, 500k), TLL's money (SOO forward when he signed this deal, would be north of 400k), White's money (around 350k).
Robinson is all but gone from what ive heard and no one is going to stand in Shillington's way if he finds another club. McCrone is still unsigned too...
and Milford knocked our millions back. All we've done with that money is re-sign a handful of guys like Fensom, Boyd, Croker, Edrick Lee and Wighton. We've got 2 mil easy... and absolutely no one internally to spend it on until Cornish's next deal.
The broom is coming big time and i for one couldnt be happier about it. If the Raiders snare Tedesco, Mansour, Proctor and Ennis, to pair with Wighton, Croker, Fensom, Vaughan, Cornish and Papalii we'll actually might be an NRL footy side next year.
Mansour is a gun, i really hope we get him. Wouldnt mind taking on Moylan either if Tedesco falls through!
Hearing the offer to Mansour is in the region of $450k per year.
Not sure if that is including incentives like Origin etc. But damn that'd be hard to turn down.
No why I would pay more then $250k for a specialist winger. He will be a loss no doubt but DWZ or Cartwright going due to no cap is far worse of a loss.
Whilst I think this reported offer is way overs , 250k for an above average 1st grade winger is unders. Especially under the new cap.
Hell it's below the average salary of the top 25.
I'd put the worth of an above average 1st grade winger somewhere in the 300-350k range.

250k for a winger that plays pretty much as a forward for you guys and leads the hit ups nearly every game LOL.
Stop living in the stone age, welcome to modern day football where good wings like him do a lot more then score tries.

Would be a decent backline...but who would be your five-eight?
AND FINALLY ? GUS GETS HIS MAN
The Panthers have scored a coup by signing highly respected former Souths recruitment manager Mark Hughes.
The former Bulldogs star has a good track record in identifying junior talent and was on Gus Gould?s radar for some time.
