I really like Taylor, he is a defensive work horse, but with Merrin playing big minutes and the edge running of Cartwright/Peachy and possibly Grevs. Do we have a place for him? Unless Hook wants to play Merrin in the front row, I'd have to say no.

I think Taylor would be a huge loss.

But this wouldn't be too shabby:

11. Cartwright
12. Grevsmuhl
13. Merrin

14. Peachey

With Sopoaga and Yeo being first grade experienced depth. I suppose if we sign McQueen aswell, he would slot in with Sopoaga and Yeo as fringe players. Hopefully not a full strength inclusion.

Then you have guys like Garcia, JFH, Saunders etc. who could be solid if needed.

Well i really like the look of Chris Smith. So we obviously have plenty of options. I'm just happy we are in the hunt for quality big name players and have the cap managed well enough that Gus can make decisions of recruitment not on finance considerations but on the players that he thinks gives us the best chance at a premiership. I'd be happy if we jusy got Grevsmuhl this year and we try and keep this squad together.

What big name players are we chasing?

Harawira is very skilled and tough, he was playing FB a bit in 2014 but I think he is lacking a bit of size.

Harawira looked like a different kid before and after the last off season, like Pritchard went from a giraffe to a rhino in an off season.

Experience doesn't matter if the players just aren't very good. Those young guys might bit light on experience now, but the only way they will gain more experience is by getting more game time..

True if the players are shit then experience counts for nought. But I doubt Gould would knowingly buy rubbish.
I agree the only way young players can get experience is to play more games, but I agree with Gould that the roster could use another experienced centre.
If something happens to Whare or the young brigade goes down injured again (Blake is already struggling in training) there will be times a older head is needed. Like Dave Simmons contribution on the wing the past few years.

I wonder what is being done behind the scenes regarding Walker. I know everyone is talking Manly, but surely we are having a sticky beak also, and keeping it all under wraps.

Gould said we had a few irons in the fire. I assume we are talking to Walker, Hiku? Mcqueen etc.
There is a bit me horse trading to be done over the next month that might have a domino effect.

Pretty ridiculous that so many rosters are far from settled yet. Mostly due to Burgess aswell. If he didn't sign then Souths roster would be pretty much staying the way it was. As would clubs looking at their players.

I doubt we get Walker. But if we could replace Idris with Walker, McQueen and Grevsmuhl for 2016 that would be ridiculous. Unless we lost Taylor to do so.

I think we aren't in play for Walker. It's Manly or bust I think.

No one I have spoken to have suggested that we are in on Walker. They could be telling me fibs but...so who knows.

Wouldn't be against it...just feel like we are better off in the long run trusting the kids.
