With these youngsters signing it only means our future is brighter. By the time Melbourne will be on a downhill, it will be Penrith the team to beat. Sign Carney or Johnson.

It sure will be interesting to see how Melbourne work to transition the big 3 out. I certainly wouldnt underestimate them.
It does look positive for medium term success though. Once we have established a strong team if we avoid back ended contracts, incentive based contracts and let go of a favourite as soon as they attract too much money we might finally realise the strength that our junior pool affords us.

Lot of work to do though.

In today's RLW.
Dragons apparently approached Souths to give Keary an immediate release. They were turned down.

Immediate release is asking a bit much.

Obviously souths could still have injuries. And in an important year like this I don't see them letting a talented half go.

Offseason could be a different story though.

Former Dally M medalist Todd Carney is set to turn his back on big offers from the New Zealand Warriors & St.George Illawarra Dragons.

Carney is set to sign a four-season-contract extension with the Cronulla Sharks worth $625,000 per season.

Because Gus thinks he's doctor f**king Phil and needs to micro-manage players delicate confidence levels. Apparently it has been the norm in the NRL to shatter many a players confidence by debuting them too soon and many potential supserstars have been lost to the game in this fashion. Gus is setting that shit to rights. First on the list, no away game debutants. Players must debut at home or the lasting effects on mental health could become crippling to their career.

It is a gigantic load of f**king wankery.

So you know better than Gus on how to blood new talent, what a wanker you have no idea. If it was not for Gould you would not have a club, by the way I am not a Gus Gould fan but you are way off the mark.

So Warren Wilson had no say in fixing the clubs finances??

Gus was fine with playing 17yo Fittler in a GF but no playing 21yo with 4 years of competitive footy in him (Moylan, Austin)?

Wilson has sold profitable assets. He has not changed the club business at all. It is no more or less profitable, or loss-making, than it has been for the past 6-7 years. Except for football which increased its loss last year and will probably increase it again this year.

There are more assets available to sell. So the illusion of a financial turnaround can continue for some time.

Gould and Wilson deserve some credit but they are not saviours by any means.

Im not happy with how much they are holding our youngs guys back but I gotta say a 17yo Fittler still shits all over 21yo Austin and Moylan, from a great height.

Of course there is still work to go but to say it was all Gus is crazy. Wilson is a great business man and is doing a great job

Of course but would Fittler of been as good if we held him back?

Yes. Though may never got to Captain a GF winning side

The average NRL games is 50. Holding them back doesn't change that especially as it gives them 2-3 less years in 1st grade.

Look at the Manly halves. Foran came in young. DCE had the year in QLD cup. Both are just as good as each other. Benji Debuting at 18 didn't hurt him. Same with Graham and Lewis

Plus Fittler came into a very good team. With plenty of experience.

That can't be said of our current lineup.
