I have the feeling DA is very impressed with Humble which is examplified throug him cementing a spot in the 17.

I think the club may be having second thoughts on retaining KK?
I'd love to see Humble really give the 5/8 position in the havles with Morts a go.

I have a real high opinion of Tom Humble.

what I found out...

Krippy has a massive offer infront of him from the sharks, he's not overly keen to go there and I don't blame him but we just can't much our offer which is already an upgrade on what he's on.

this possible mid season signing is now not happening as the player (Orford) cannot get a release from his current English club.

we're going big for Cronk, I can't see it happening but it does appear that DA and Ossie aren't leaving any stones unturned there.

no word on Watts or any other player.

I hope KK stays, if we loss him I would want them to pull out all stops to getting Cronk (some would be covered by Melbourne id imagine). Playing with the likes of Hayne, Tahu and our forward pack could be a big pull for someone like Cronk or KK if they stay.

So are we chasing Cronk incase we lose KK or are we chasing Cronk regardless??? If we lose KK You'd have to think we'd be a massive chance to get Cronk.

I hope the club has a plan for the 7 jumper if we lose KK and Cronk is it

I agree, what are the options? If we lose KK and Cronk is unattainable (remembering he still has a contract at the storm). The only person that I can see that off contract would be Josh Lewis at the Gold Coast. Orford or Kimmorley would be a good option unless we want to stick with a Humble/Mortimer combination.

Beau Henry - could be one for the future
Trent Barrett - Has only said he heading towards retiring. Might like one more chance to win a comp
Scott Porter - good kicking game, not the best but would be cheap. Would be a stop gap fix
Scott Durea - has he signed with the Knights ? maybe needs a change to rearch his full potential
James Maloney - Maybe warriors are planning to play Mateo at 5/8 so they may think about releasing him.
Brett Finch - na don't think so. But didn't think he was to bad at 5/8, just hopeless at 1/2.
Brett Kimmorley - to old

Not much out there, I would aim for Beau first for his potential or Barrett for experience.

Maybe just focus on Humble - he might be a winner

Barrett has already had offers from canberra and turned them down, so pretty much nothing. Humble, KK and then Cronk.

If we lose KK and cant get Cronk or Lewis then the halves combo will have to be Mortz and Humble and they will have to look for a jnr player.

I've also heard that from a very reputable source.

Suity

it's good that we're having a real crack at him but I just can't see him coming to the club.

KK, will be making his decision before Cronk does, infact Cronks make take months to make his decision if he infact he does decide to explore other options.

Caylo, Josh Lewise has not been at the Titans since early 09, he then went on a mid season move to the West Tigers where he was playing reserves grade for Balmain before he moved to Cronulla where he can't make first grade ahead of Tim Smith and Scott Porter..

Josh Lewis is not a first graders arsehole..

You may be correct but Walsh stuggled at Newcastle before moving away. Lewis was blooded very young and that may have destroyed him but when he made his debu he had a good neat kicking game and good organising skills. In a team with a strong pack and backline plus alot of experiance he could flurish. He may also not be a firstgraders arsehole but that just highlights the lack of options if we loss KK.

Walsh never struggled as much at Newcastle as Lewis did and Lewis may not of recieved the guidence as he probably should of but brining in damaged goods to potentially help out Morts would be ridiculous..yes there's a massive lack of options, however those close to the action would be well aware of that (you'd hope so anyway) and they would be looking at England and even the NYC for options.

Beau Henry would of been ideal however it appears that Newcastle have nabbed him to play inside Mullen as Scott Dureau has been nothing more than car crash for them.

If the storm don't decide who to get rid if soon, won't it mean lots of clubs will have already spent their cap for next season?

What if they decide at the end of the season to release slater or cronk. Who is going to gave $500K free to pay them? I guess they might pick up backended deals or something.

there;s a theory going around thta alot of clubs have freed up space and have taken a back seat view to what's happening and have decided to wait, we're apparently one of those clubs.

The Storm are reportadly over the cap by about 1.5 mill next years and as a rule of thumb would grant permission for certain players to negotiate with other clubs, the problem that Melbourne have is that the big 4 are reportadly on massive deals and as it needs to count under their cap they need to depend on other clubs to strike deals with those players than if it's under their current deals, then Melbourne will need to make up the shortfall and count it under their cap.

how I understand it..

if Cronk is on 600K next year and Parra stike up a deal worth 350K than Melbourne will still need to pay cronk 250K and count it under the cap...

it's a f**ked situation for them but it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.
