Joely has had some good information over the years (signings/team selections etc) and he isn't one to troll.

I would be massively stoked with DCE, although I can't help but wince at the strain it would put on our cap. Also, while getting his pen to paper as soon as it is legal (Nov 1) will lock other clubs out, Manly will still have the Rd.13 rule to try and retain him.

Given his well known battles, which by all accounts are now sorted, he may not have much left from the last 2 years!

Not sure if it will put much pressure on our cap. I am guessing DCE would be worth roughly what we are curently paying hoppa and Sandow (going on media reports). Obviously we wouldn't be keeping sandow is cherry comes and I doubt hoppa next contract is going to be in the superstar range. We may even let him go

We don't need to talk to him, players have managers for a reason

Having substantial discussion with a player's appointed agent about that player's future employment is, in the eyes of the law, basically identical to talking the player. One advantage, I guess, is that you can comfortably be seen in public talking to an agent.

It would be nice to hav more than 1 marque player like the good teams. With potentially the 2 state of origin and future Australian captains

Gee if the Storm can have Slater, Smith and Cronk, the Cowboys can have Thurston, Scott and Tamou, and Manly can have Lyon, Stewart, Foran and Watmough why couldn't we fit in Hayne, DCE and Hoppa?

I don't care.I think if we sign DCE we my lose forwards. And if its for 2016 it means a disrupted sandow for 2015

What forwards will we lose?

The two forwards still on higher then they should be on contracts expire next year, and we are in the process of trying to offload both.

I hope it is a gee up. To fit under the salary cap, DCE and Hayne would be surrounded by nuffies.

Really?

$7.1mill.
1 mill for each of them

$5.1mill remains.

5 guys on $80k (eg, the best 20s players, or a bloke who is projected as ultimate reserve [Toutai])

18 blokes left to sign with $4.7mill (260k each).
If you sign 5 blokes at $400k, 5 blokes on $300k, then you have $1.2mill left for the last 8 guys (150k each).
You can get journeymen like Gower for $150k easily. There are plenty of 'useful' top 25 players who could be signed at that money, none of them would be origin players, but you don't need all Origin stars to win a comp.

I can also confirm from what I heard over the weekend is that if Brett Stewart signs with manly DCE will sign else where, the two do not see eye to eye. We have also signed up a new recruitment officer last week, all I know his name is Des and is very close with BA..
