What we should be doing is offering Hayne as little as we can but a backhand deal ;) Where he get 200k a year job working at parra or 5 yrs after he leaves. Is there anything stopping clubs from doing this?

Just a quick one.I don't like having a dig at guys on here.BUT why is it when we are trying too offload a player like Lussick or Allgood there on ove'sr and huge $$.
But when we sign that guy it was for a lot less than rumoured figure. You cant change things to suit your argument it makes you come across as a fool.Im sure Lussick was signed for decent coin as he was a hot prospect when he left manly. But I know guys on here at the time played down the figure .....

I'm sure it happens to some extent (i.e. a bit of nudge nudge wink wink agreement), but at the end of the day the NRL have to agree to register the formal contract, and so if it is unrealistic they'll want to know why.

I reckon Allgood and Lussick are good chances to go to Canberra seeing that Stuart re-signed and gave him the player of the year award respectively.

No there isn't anything to stop clubs from doing this, they could pay Hayne what the club is prepared to pay him for his playing contract, then they can employ him after he retires to become the Parramatta leagues janitor for 350k a year for 5 years, Which would have nothing to do with the cap.

You would think Cam smith would have something prepared for him, once he retires with a well paid cushioned job with in the club.

I wouldn't be surprised to find he's got three things prepared...

The point is that if we enter into a binding contract with him, which is conditional on him continuing to play for us, the value of that contract (or part of it) is potentially assessable for the cap. There's nothing stopping us having an informal understanding that he'll be looked after post-retirement. And there's nothing wrong with us paying him whatever we like after his retirement. But, if we try to register an unrealistically low contract value during his playing years, the NRL can refuse to register it.

Cartright to knights perhaps?

Well it is odd that he resigned when he had 2 more years on his contract. Unless he has negotiated a pay out, it would cost him a shit load.

So maybe he does have job to go to ...

Wasnt there word doing the rounds that Cartwright was offered the Parramatta job only to have his tenure lengthened at the GC to cut off Parramattas efforts?
Did I dream this?
If my memory is correct we certainly dodged a bullet there.
All hail BA.

I couldn't care if Steve Sharp came to work naked, he will always be respected for sticking his neck out and appointing Brad Arthur. Well done Sharpie.:clap:

Agreed, i have give him plenty on here but that decision was a fantastic one. Things are looking up for the club and he has played a huge part in that. Carty should have been flicked a couple of seasons ago, shows how poor that club is run keeping him on when he has continually failed.
