Why are management desperately keen to kickoff negotiations early?
He said he wants to stay so there's no problem.

Work out the salary cap, and what kind of position we are in for recruiting.

Signing Hayne early will be a huge bargaining tool for players looking to come to this club, and will also help re-sign Hoppa IMO

I'll type out the full article soon but NSW Combined Catholic Colleges Under 15s captain, Jesse Michael Cronin has signed with Parra for 4 years.

Cronin is a front rower according to RLW.

Next generation of Blues ready for the challenge

By Josh Callinan

June 17, 2014, 9:30 p.m.
Jesse Cronin hadn’t even started playing rugby league the last time NSW won a State of Origin series.

r0_121_2362_1454_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg
All Saints College’s Jesse Cronin will watch tonight’s State of Origin II with his NSW Combined Catholic Colleges under-15 teammates.

It wasn’t until the following year, when Queensland began their run of eight straight successful campaigns in 2006, that Cronin first laced a boot with the West Maitland under 6s.
Almost a decade on and the 15-year-old from Rutherford is not only hopeful the Blues can break the drought, but also wants to taste his own interstate glory.
Cronin will watch game II of Origin in camp in Sydney with the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges squad ahead of the Under-15 Australia Schoolboys Championships, which will include a clash with the Maroons.
“I can’t remember NSW winning [State of Origin] before but I think we can and it would mean a lot,” Cronin said.
“I am looking forward to playing for my state [NSW CCC] and playing against Queensland.”
Cronin, now with the Thornton Beresfield under 15s, will have the chance to lock horns with the Maroons on Tuesday at Tamworth’s Scully Park.
It will be the second game of the carnival after kicking off a day earlier against NSW Combined High Schools.
Play-offs will take place on Thursday, June 25 with the John Allen Shield up for grabs the following day.
Cronin, a prop, will follow in the footsteps of fellow All Saints College students Brodie Jones and Brock Lamb as Maitland representatives in the NSW CCC under-15 squad.
Jones went to the carnival last year and went on to make the NSW under 16s squad this year.
Lamb made the trek in 2012 and was selected in the Australian Schoolboys side at halfback.

Early next month Lamb will be joined by Callen Edwards in the NSW CCC squad for the Under-18 Australian Schoolboys Championships in Darwin.
Both Lamb and Cronin were officially recognised for their efforts at last month’s NSW CCC trials as part of a presentation dinner held in Sydney on Saturday night.
Lamb and Cronin were named players of the tournament in their respective age divisions following their performances for Northern NSW CCC.

MORE POLISH, LESS PANIC FOR PARRA

PARRAMATTA CO-CAPTIAN TIM Mannah says the Eels have got to come out of their bye week with less panic and more polish if they are to breathe new life into their season after back-to-back losses to Melbourne and Newcastle knocked them out of the top eight.

The Eels got into trouble at the end of their sets too often in the 16-10 loss to the Knights at home last Sunday. Too many of their attacking drives ended with a player being tackled on the last, a poor kick, or a bad pass.

"I think we're just starting to panic too much" Mannah tells RLW. "The effort was there against Newcastle, but the experience of their players got the better of us. We've got to show a bit more patience, a bit more class, to enable us to put more polish on the end of our sets."

"At time we didn't come up with the smartest play to finish our sets. There were a lot of sets that died. Look at the way they finished their sets, (Kurt) Gidley driving the ball into touch and putting the ball where they wanted it to be in the second half."

"We've got to get a better 'feel' of the game."

The Eels will come out of the bye with a difficult away game against the in-form Warriors this Saturday week. The week after that, they are at home to South Sydney.

It is a critically important two-game stretch for a team now in 10th place.

"The bye has come at a good time," Mannah says. "We've got a few bumps and bruises and a few things we can work on over the next couple of weeks to try and get things back on track.

Eels Sign another Cronin

PARRAMATTA HAS SIGNED another Michael Cronin...almost 30 years after his namesake led the Eels to their last premiership.

Meet Jesse Michael Cronin - one of the hottest young prospects in Rugby League. Captain of the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges team, the giant 15-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Eels and will start in the Harold Matthews Cup in 2015.

Cronin is a Newcastle junior from Beresfield but was poached by the Eels after standout performances in the Australian Under-15 Championships in Tamworth last week.

While the other Mick Cronin was a champion goalkicking centre, the new version is a big, rugged front-rower.

"Jesse was superb and had a few clubs chasing him," says Cronin's manger, Andrew Woolnough. "He is a big, strong kid with good skills and should develop his game well at Parramatta. For someone his age, he is very tough and mature."

"He is actually no relation to the great Mick Cronin but his dad is a big Eels fan and made his middle name Michael as a tribute to the great man."

Michael Cronin joined the Eels in 1977 from Gerringong and was a star of the club's four premiership wins in 1981-82-83 and '86. The Eels haven't won a title since - but continue to live in hope.

BIG LEAGUE'S CLASS OF 2014

Pauli Pauli (Eels)

The 188cm, 105kg [119kg actually - Forty20] has quickly earned a reputation as one of the most exciting young player sin the competition. A barn-storming back-rower who terrorises opponents' edges, Pauli has the skill - and the brute strength - to rip defences to pieces. And Parramatta coach Brad Arthur has a warning for the rest of the NRL - he'll get much better.

"He (has done) some really good things and then at times there are some areas where he needs to be better in defence, but that's just something that's going to take time," Arthur says. "He is only 19 years old and eight or 10 games into his NRL career....it was never going to happen over night."
MORE FROM MA'U

JUST shy of his 26th birthday, Parramatta's second-row revelation Manu Ma'u could hardly be overlooked for his breakout year with the Eels. In fact, he's been a standout. A veteran in comparison to the rest of the rookies on our list, Ma'u quite literally burst out of obscurity as one of the form forwards in the competition a main reason Parramatta started the season with such ferocity.

Coach Brad Arthur didn't expect a lot from Ma'u during the pre-season but has seen enough from him to know he's a huge part of the future of the club.

"Definitely. That's why we re-signed him for three years. He's a big part of our future," Arthur told Big League.

"We didn't have any expectations on the young fellas. It was our job to bring them through and make sure they're working hard and they understand the game and understand their role in the team. We didn't expect too much from them."

"He's a tough customer. He runs nice and hard and he's physical with his defence."

Standing at 183cm and weighing a little over 100kg, Ma'u's size is actually one thing Arthur thinks the forward could build. With a few weeks at least on the sideline with an arm injury, Ma'u has the perfect opportunity to work on putting on bulk.

"It's a shame that he's not playing at the moment but I'm sure that he'll be back. This break might allow him to put on a bit of weight," he said. If he can do that he'll return to the field, ahem, bigger and better?

"We'd like to think so," Arthur said. "As long as (he) stays grounded and continues to work hard (he) can get better."

Honestly, it's about time some of our fans moved on.

You can't keep them all.

Personally i am very happy with the juniors coming through the system, the future is very bright for this club.

I have moved on. the lost of Loko and that list of players don't faze me. I was arguing the point that was originally made.

Clinton hit his straps after he left paara to join Canberra

Garbage.
Schifcoske was fantastic player for us in his time at the club. One of our best at the time.
He didn't get any better after moving to Canberra.
Letting him go for Hodgson was still the right choice though.

Of those players david William can be compared as was for the same reasons.
Shifcoske spent his best years here and we upgraded with hodgson.
Clinton-average along with mogg who we picked up from qld cup.
T-rex is not worth the 600k he is getting
Hodkinson IMO is bog average.Same goes for Buhrer.
Gallen well we all know how he got there  Which leaves Maloney and Tupou.

Reason we let Loko go is he prob wont be any good next year being out for so long wont hit his straps so do we want to wait till 2016

If a genuine halfback in Hodgkinson is bog average I'd be interested in what you think we have currently in the 7

The club was happy to stick by Loko (like they have for years now) but his continuous off-field behavior is the main reason behind this.

Also, the Inu deal doesn't look to be happening anymore

What was the story with Loko's off field issues?
