Danny Wicks is Top 25 as is Richie. Only Folau and Buretta are second tier.

Who cares about second tier breaches? It's hardly a massive advantage to replace one injured nuffy with an uninjured nuffy. You only have to ask the NRL, prove there is no one else available ("We promise they're all injured") and they'll let you do it.

If I recall last year and the year before there was an issue with Penrith that once they had reached their second tier cap that the NRL was then deciding who Penrith could actually put in their team each week. I believe that it also gets to a situation where Top 25 players get priority over non Top 25 players. So for instance the NRL could inform Parramatta that someone like Peni Terepo had to play ahead of say Danny Wicks for instance.

I'm still lost at why the NRL does not make clubs list who their current Top 25 players are at any given time. Would it not make it more transparent with this second tier cap situation?

I wouldn't have thought that third party payments would be an issue of your top 25. I'm guessing it would be your top 25 players under the salary cap.

In any case, I couldn't see too many, if any, lower players in the bottom of your top 25 getting too many third party payments.

They actually used to make them list them about 5-10 years ago. The pre-season guides had team photos of the top 25, and those were the 'profiled players'. Some whinging about 'who are these young blokes and why aren't they listed', and they may have changed the methodology.

Asking the NRL for dispensation to bring in another second tier player when there are top 25 players available is just taking the piss. And it's not like the NRL is forcing teams to play a front rower out wide.

They wont make us play Wicks on the wing before exempting Faraimo for example.

So using that argument, should there be a rule that you have to use your Top 25 players first, before using any others, irrespective of positions that people play?

As the post above says, making clubs play Danny Wicks on the wing before Faraimo gets a game. After all, it's a Top 25, not a Top 31.

If it was Crooks and Toutai, why would we have picked Folau and then Fariamo ahead of them (I accept Toutai was injured) and dipped into our second tier cap and effectively just swapping around 'nuffy' players.

Also...would we seriously have only two halves in a 25 man squad?
