It just means we will commit to only two genuine props in the 17. One will start, with the other coming off the bench. The starting team will include two 'locks'. Maybe one of them will be a middle half!!!

There's always somebody injured anyway isn't there?

8. Mannah (2017)
9. Peats
10. Paulo (2016)
11. Scott
12. Moeroa (2017)
13. Watmough (2018)

14. Edwards (2017)
15. Ma'u (2017)
16. Gower (prop) (2016)
17. Wicks?

Still leaves us plenty of big'uns on the bench anyway even if everyone is fit.

But more than likely 1 backrower would be unavailable at any given time. Edwards and Watmough are the middle guys, the others are more edgy.

Agree Scott is best on the right edge. Ma'u is best out wide too. Moeroa is a monster. Surely he could play in the middle.

I've had a few thoughts about Tepai in the middle. Certainly lets him belt merkins that run North/South without too much lateral pressure. He is also very good at extracting meterage after contact without getting turtled.

I would like to see both Pauli Pauli and Tepai play in the middle. Their edge defence sucks arse.

Bad news for us that Tuivasa-Sheck is leaving the Roosters. That means one more club that will be looking for a decent fullback as well as us.

NSW Origin and Test forward Beau Scott to sign three-year deal with Parramatta Eels next week

Rugby league reporter

The Parramatta Eels are set to bolster an already imposing forward pack with NSW Origin and Test forward Beau Scott expected to sign a three-year deal with the club next week.

As revealed by Fairfax Media last month, the Newcastle back-rower has a get-out clause in his contract with the Knights and has been planning to trigger it for family reasons to return to Sydney next season.

While the Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra Dragons expressed interest, the Eels look set to lure the 30-year-old to Parramatta in another significant boost to the club's premiership aspirations for 2016. Scott has requested to leave the Knights on compassionate grounds because his son requires medical assistance he can receive at the Children's Hospital in Westmead.

While Fairfax Media understands the Tigers and Dragons were able to offer the no-nonsense forward more money, it is believed Scott has decided to link with Parramatta because of the proximity to the Children's Hospital and a view the club is entering a 'premiership window'.

Despite having yet to put pen to paper, it is understood Scott has told those close to him he will be wearing blue and gold next season.

Having already landed one of the biggest signatures in the game in Kieran Foran for 2016, the Eels have now added the grunt to much the class the Manly premiership-winning playmaker will bring next season.

The Eels aren't short of talent and aggression in the forwards having recently signed representative star Anthony Watmough, resurrected the career of Danny Wicks and helped develop the blossoming careers of Tepai Moeroa, Manu Ma'u and Junior Paulo.

However Scott, who recently re-signed with the Knights until the end of 2017, will add some mongrel to a pack that oozing with youthful exuberance.

Fairfax Media contacted Parramatta on Friday night but the club declined to comment.

The 2010 premiership-winning forward had a deadline of April 1 to make a call on his future, but it's understood Newcastle officials won't enforce the deadline given the personal circumstances, allowing Scott more time to decide on his future.

Knights chief executive Matt Gidley recently told Fairfax Media deadlines were not a factor for any player with legitimate grounds to seek compassionate leave.

Scott is renowned as a perennial niggler and found himself in the headlines after targeting North Queensland Cowboys skipper Johnathan Thurston in the opening game of the season in Townsville.

Scott has a "bodyguard" reputation in defence, protecting his halves while targeting opposition playmakers when the opposition have the ball.

The news of Scott's imminent signature comes in the same week Parramatta re-signed John Folau, the brother of superstar Wallaby Israel Folau, as well as fellow outside backs Brad Takairangi and Bureta Faraimo.

Folau and Takairangi's new agreements will see them at the blue and golds for two more years, to the end of 2017, while Faraimo signed for one more season.

Folau, 19, made his NRL debut in round three. He scored two tries in his first home game at Parramatta against the Rabbitohs.

Newcastle Knights’ Beau Scott to join Parramatta Eels on three-year deal

Phil Rothfield Sports Editor-at-Large
The Daily Telegraph
April 10, 2015 6:05PM

NRL BIG-spenders the Parramatta Eels are poised to announce the signing of tough Kangaroos and Origin second-rower Beau Scott on a three-year deal.

The Daily Telegraph understands Scott has agreed to a $1.5 million deal and will quit the Newcastle Knights at the end of the season to link up with the Eels.

His signing completes a series of big-name recruitments including Manly Sea Eagles champions Kieran Foran and Anthony Watmough.

Having Scott join Watmough give the Eels one of the most experienced and feared forward packs in the competition.

It will be 30-year-old Scott’s fourth NRL club following stints at the Cronulla Sharks, St George-Illawarra where he won a premiership under Wayne Bennett before following the super coach to Newcastle three years ago.

There is not a tougher or more feared forward in the game.

The news on Scott will make up for the disappointment that hard-running forward Darcy Lussick is likely to be headed to the Gold Coast Titans next year.

Lussick comes off contract at the end of the year, and just happens to be good mates with Titans’ high-profile recruit Daly Cherry-Evans.

In fact, Lussick and Cherry-Evans have spoken several times in recent weeks, but City forward Lussick said not once had the conversation turned to him joining his mate on the holiday strip in 2016.

As Parramatta now make Will Hopoate and Chris Sandow their top recruitment priorities — Hopoate is expected to agree to a new deal as early as next week — Lussick’s management are happy to give the Eels first right of refusal.

Tbh, Scott is a great signing - think of what he can teach Tepai, and how he will babysit Sandow in defence.

Now - please re-sign Hopoate as a centre and go all out for Simona (I know, it'll never happen) and our team will look awesome.

I read in one of those Beau Scott article that he has chosen Parra to be close to the Childrens Hospital. Is there a family issue with one of his kids?

One of the newy fans mentioned he had a family issue and it's why he was leaving. So unfortunately i think that's a yes.

Yes, you are all right! Tepai is so big he would ideally suit that middle backrower spot. Make 30 stinging tackles and 100m every game.
