Exactly what I think happened. What a load of shit anyway. It's not like nobody knew about this. FFS I told close mates and people on this board a year ago that Foran was the real target and not DCE. Everyone knew.

True that. Feel sorry for the bloke he wanted to tell his mates before the announcement instead he has a circus to deal with. If it was Manly that leaked it then it says heaps about their management which has absolutely no idea.

* they DCE all but signed last oct but them reduces his deal
* they let go of their legends to try n keep Foran and DCE but failed to retain them

This is the start of a new era at our club, I truly believe that. I watched Watmough closely last week and he was excellent and now we have Foran. This would have been unimaginable a year ago.

Been thinking about it today and I trust Arthur and truly think that Sandow will be Foran's halves partner only because Norman and Foran are both left side halves. We also need a long range kicking game which Sandow possesses. There is no need to ditch Norman now. He is under contract and will play where he is needed by the team. If he doesn't like it he can ask for a release or wait until 2017.

If it were up to me I would let Hopoate go and I think this is what Arthur is also thinking seeing that we have made no approaches to renew his contract yet. The first reason is because of the reported money he is on and the second reason is some serious money to be left over if Hayne returns which we could know as soon as June or at the latest August. I'm sure Hayne knew about the plan to secure Foran long before his dream chasing.

Can you imagine a spine of

1. Hayne

6. Foran

7. Sandow

9. Peats.

That combination with our emerging pack mixed with experienced players like Choc, Mannah and the best young forward in the game (Tepai Moeroa) wins premierships.

Not to mention that we now have potentially one of the best young coaches in the game that seasoned pros like Watmough and Foran want to play for and are entrusting to take them to the next level and/or the most chance of further glory.

Apologies for not mentioning you earlier Mr Arthur.

I as a Parra fan have not been this excited since the Canterbury 4 were spotted lurking near our club during the Super League War.

Kudos to Arthur, Seward and Sharp.

Well done!!!!!!!!!

Told by who?? I thought choc wanted to leaveManly. BA was the most important factor in getting choc

By Arthur himself...

He told me Choc was seriously considering leaving, but couldn't make up his mind - until Bill Moss came to the party, pulled some strings, and helped set Choc up for life after football.

Bill Moss is a hugely important asset to this club.

Enough with the Hayne returning fantasy... he's gone.

And even if he gets cut by the 49ers in August, I'd bet he'll go back and keep trying with some other franchise in November. He's not coming back to us - the club simply HAS to move on now, rather than holding back funds for Hayne's possible return this year, or for some late attempt to sign him on a new contract for next year.

Could the leaks be coming form the player managers? That is, the competing player managers? Look what happened with DCE. Surely he wanted to negotiate in private but tonight on NRL 36o they show footage of his manger waving to the media at shark town
Ethics doesn't seem to be a strong point among that bunch. The whole industry seems like it has some similarities to sleazy real estate practices?

The leak could also have come from other clubs who were in the hunt and negotiating with Foran's manager - but told their offers weren't close to what was on the table (from us)?

I Hope the grubs who leaked this are happy, instead of trying to turn the club into a powerhouse they go out of their way to destroy the club because they can't run it. The sooner these pricks are all removed from the club the better.
Has there been a Football Club Board election yet, so the membership can remove the final traces of 3P from the Eels at long last?

Just on the implication of a Foran deal for our other players:

Hoppa was recruited under... Kearney? (for overs)
Sandow was recruited under... Kearney? (for overs)
Norman was recruited under... Sticky? (for overs, but probably not as much over)

None of them are certainties to be retained by Arthur, and it will likely come down to a value judgement - make the first offer to the player who you think suits the future direction of the team/combinations (Sandow?), and make the offer at the level that the club feels is affordable for its plans (probably the same as what he is on now - no longer overs for a half, under the new cap years later).

That leaves Hopa on overs, and Norman still under contract for 2016. Offer Hopa a reduced contract - especially if he doesn't make Origin selection this year - and let him go if he thinks he can find a club to pay higher.

After Foran's arrival Norman can be a backup playmaker/utility/fullback option, which covers letting Hopa go (at least for 2016, and we can concentrate on a suitable fullback replacement for 2017 - and not Hayne).

If you're talking about single-handedly winning a game, not even Jarryd Hayne could do that. It's a team game and Norman plays his role well.
Then why does everyone still jizz their pants about how Hayne single-handedly got us to the Grand Final in 2009  and how "great" his form was last year - including in his last two games where Hayne phoned in it and we missed out on the finals?

I think you guys are really starting to put a team together that can be challenging for the premiership in the next couple of years! With regards to the Sandow situation, I think that you guys will keep him mainly because I don't think that there is anyone else available on the market for the limited money you will be able to offer them under the cap. Sandow's biggest problem is his consistency. I don't think a long term deal is in order because Sandow gets far too complacent and only starts playing well when he is coming towards the end of his contract.

As for Hayne returning, I don't think that will be happening anytime soon. In any case your going to have to fork out serious money to get him back, which again may put you guys over the cap. I'm aware that David Smith can grant clubs concessions to break the cap if it allows them to retain star players but I doubt that it will happen. I think that there will simply be too much outrage from other clubs if Parra (and other clubs) are allowed to break the cap; it defies the point of even having a salary cap if your going to break it.

June 30 doesn't worry me.

Manly will need go enter the market immediately if they want a chance at getting a quality off contract half. They can't be waiting to the end of June in hope Foran backflips

Parra making some good moves on the recruitment part.

I think the only thing missing from them is now a consistent halfback and fullback. If Sandow and Hopoate/Norman can fulfil that, great. Parra should be making the finals every year if this happens. I do agree with some that Foran and Sandow would compliment each other. Sandow has never had a proper 5/8 next to him (We found out Sutton works much better as an edge backrower and Norman is too inconsistent and inexperienced) but Foran could be a godsend for Chrissy and Parra. Best of luck. And down with Manly :)

Sandow last year had his most consistent year I think Arthur is a coach of the future. Norman may leave early but he could also be a possibility for fullback should Hopoate not stay. Foran brings the calmness to the halves and it would allow Sandow to play his style better.

I feel sorry for Toovey with how he's been thrown to the wolves but don't feel for manly as a club
