I guess as a Sharks fan you are only going to see it this way.
Im with the media on this one though, he’s a good signing for dragons and at great value and a loss for Sharks who I’m sure would have loved to keep him if they had the cap space.
The risk isn’t ours IMO, the risk is with the Sharks letting him go in favour of Kennedy, Trindle and Hynes.

$500k seems like quite big overs to me, especially when you consider the reports that Hunt is getting $550/$600k at the donkeys and Tricky signed with us for $650k.
DA did very well for us in his limited games, but he hardly controlled the team. If you look at things objectively and based on actual facts, there’s no evidence to suggest he can play well week in, week out - he’s never been a regular starter. And whilst he played well as a stand in, once we had a fully fit squad, he didn’t make the 17.
Forget the name or the club, $500k for any player that can’t make the top 17 at another NRL club is a big gamble.

I honestly don't think $500k is a bad buy for 3 years. Yeah it is on potential but his mentality towards the game is pretty good.
If he can overcome his glaring weakness then he could be a really good player. We'll see if they are working with him on that over the off season.

Tend to agree. $500k for 3 years was too much for us for a likely reserve half and sometimes benchie. For the goons it’s probably worth the risk, hoping he can elevate to a gun half. With DAs attitude he’ll always be worth a squad spot somewhere, so can be offloaded if needed.

But I don’t see him as a week in week out top flight half unfortunately. His passing game in particular needs a lot of work, but good luck to him, seems like a good kid. The deal works for everyone.

He wasn’t getting a start in a top 4 team so goes to a bottom 8 team to get a start, not the first time, won’t be the last.

Yep. Especially his left to right, had some real shockers through the season.
Amazing how many "eggspurts" haven't mentioned this. We saw it first hand.
Although it is definitely a problem that can be rectified.
And that is the reason why his top coin at the moment would be $500K, and as to why some think it's overs, plus the fact he has only played a handful of 1st grade games.

Atkinson is more a fullback imo but to sign him on $500k when untested at 1 in the top grade is a risk. Shame he wasn’t locked up another year to test him out.

Spot on Eion, Flanno said it was always the plan to play Junior at Hooker. It all changed when the young bloke got sacked so Junior had to play in the Halves.
