I reckon if any of us were offered more than double our current salary we'd be moving on in a heartbeat. I just hope he jags a premiership ring in '25 cause there's no way in hell he'll be getting one at the Goons.

Very happy with the Ison signing.
Being signed up before WK, anything to be read into it?
He is a terrific young player.
I honestly don’t think they know who will be the fullback going forward. It’s one of the most open positions at the Club currently.

They are probably seeing Ison as one of the options but so would be Dykes. They may even go to the market place if something comes up.

I don’t think they’ve totally written WK off yet either but they know there’s only so many vacant fullback spots at NRL Clubs so they won’t be paying premium money to resign him if there really isn’t any big interest in WK from other NRL clubs.

The Club know they have the leverage with this deal. They like him but don’t love him is my impression. They will pay what they value him at and there won’t be any guarantees that his position would be locked in. He’s one of the options. Like Nicho he has been especially disappointing in the big games.

The one that got away for the Goons was AFB. Turns out he got his manager to reach out to the Sharks despite having an impressive offer on the table from the Dargons. Took 500k less over 4 years. He's the sort of player that could have made a massive difference for the Merge.
AFB is 29. So he is signed for four years. 29-33 are the end-of-the-road years for most modern props. Next two years he may be good. Years three and four maybe not.

I’m taking the whizz and agree completely.
The other mob just signed the messiah by the sounds of it and have to gloat.
I love the bloke and wish him well. I have some leanings with BBB on him, but well done for Flange.
The only positive is we get to watch the potential game of thrones machinations with Flanno Jr. Is Jubilee / WIN stadium his house?
I know mate. These oxygen thieves annoy the shit out of me. I'm spewing we lost DA, but at this point in their careers, he's probably the one who needed to go.

Yeah I think so. The Dylan Edwards comparison keeps getting brought up by people like Riccio.

DA was part of the fb puzzle but even so they wanted Ison locked down. Ison didn't get this deal done in the last 72 hours. By the end of Ison's deal he will be 23 and at 23 WK had played 19 games. You get the feeling Ison will have played more than 19 in 3 years.

Hopefully we don’t do the standard and leave him in lower grade for 2 years as WK floats through each week.

I don't expect WK to last the year in firsts.
Either one of Ison or Dykes, I don't care, but I want more from the back.
I'm leaning towards Ison though, after Dykes' lengthy layoffs, with Dykes getting a bench role.

I think I might be a Lone Ranger on this one, but I don’t get the whole push to move on from WK.
Yes, if there was an elite 1 available and willing to come, I’d like to upgrade him, but given the lack of availability of a superstar 1, he’s more than serviceable.
If I look at the fullbacks at other clubs, there’s a few I’d take over Will (Pappy, Edwards, Teddy, Turbo, Walsh and Kini), but he’s at least as good as, or better than the rest. I don’t see the rush to move him out of the team for a youngster, unless they’re absolutely ripping it up in lower grade, NRL ready and are demanding to be picked, and just don’t see that.
WK is a very good fullback, not elite, but very good. We can’t have superstars in all positions.

He is just boring chimp, doesn’t create anything, runs the plays and that’s it. Cant have superstar everywhere, sure but we don’t have any imo

Yeah I tend to agree with all of that, and if there were better available, I’d be happy to let him go and get an upgrade, but I just don’t see better available. I’d love that Kini kid from the Titans, but he’s not available, and there’s none better than Will that are realistically available.

We should be having a red hot crack at the Premiership in the next 2 seasons, and given there’s no obvious external option for an upgrade, Will is our best option. Putting Ison or Dykes at 1 does not increase our Premiership credentials in the next 2 seasons.

This is the thing we need a Super Star to emerge in the Fullback position. It’s such an important position these days. But to be honest our whole spine needs a makeover.

Not convinced about Nicho or Brailey either. Especially in big games.

The only one I have some confidence in is Trindall. We need upgrades in our spine.

Im with you Chimp...keep hearing the line we can't win the comp without an elite fullback. Yet we won the comp with Chad at half ffs. I want to see Nicho and Will go around on the back of a pack lead by AFB

Thanks for your concern mate but he's a beast that has plenty of good years in him. JWH is a good case in point. Still going hard at 35 this year. I'd be more worried about Cook and Gutho's longevity. I love them both as players and reckon they'll bring the right sort of culture to the Goons but poor Cooky looks like he's been running in quicksand this last couple of years and will be 34 next year.
