So… Souths now desperately need a middle for this year…. I wonder if we’re thinking of offering them Toby, or more likely BHU (given he’s not injured currently) as a way of freeing up cash for Hazo…

Flanno has been trying to rebottle the lightning of 2016 ever since — the old moneyball approach that landed him Lewis, Ennis and Maloney. He’ll throw money at any ex rep player in the twilight of their career, because that’s the strategy that brought him glory.

Problem is, he can’t recognise the duds from the gems — it’s the same approach that resulted in us carrying Josh Dugan for years. Will Gutho, Cook and Klemmer be his new Lewy, Ennis and Maloney? Doubt it, but weirder things have happened.
I know you're new here so you wouldn't know that this has been talked about ad nauseam for a fair while on here.
The first group you mention were put together whilst Moons was the roster shaper, the second, Dugan, plus Woods Moyza and SJ, were put together by the Flange.
It's been noted previously how he is trying to replicate the process at the Dargons.
Carry on.

Well it looks like they have to sort out their issues with F. Molo first before any other signing can be made.
Could be a bit of a wait in that scenario with the legals now involved.
Surely they still have money under the cap BB….that roster is awful. I get that because they’re such a shit-show they have to pay overs but I find it hard to believe they’ve spent their full cap.

Yeah right….that’d make more sense. Cheers
Here ya go, just saw this in todays rag. It's even messier than what I thought.

Francis Molo has hired the same lawyer who took up Israel Folau’s fight with Rugby Australia as the Dragons prepare to slap a transfer fee on the disgruntled prop.
It is understood that Molo has hired Ramy Qutami to deal with his workplace dramas at St George Illawarra. Qutami has represented a string of high profile sport stars including Folau during his much publicised battle with Rugby Australia which threatened to derail the code. Aside from Folau, Qutami has also acted for Jarryd Hayne, Dylan Walker and Salim Mehajer in recent years. Molo enlisting Qutami comes as the Dragons formally offered granted the former Queensland forward permission to talk with rival clubs on Wednesday.
However, it comes with a catch which could make it difficult for Molo to find a new home. It is understood the Dragons will allow Molo to leave provided his new club stump up a transfer fee.
They also want Molo to pay back money he had been paid in advance as well as the money he has been paid since the NRL’s contract year kicked off on November 1. It is unlikely that Molo’s camp will agree to giving money back which has been paid for this season given Molo had trained with the squad up until the end of January. Molo also played for Samoa in England at the end of last year which meant his return date to training was pushed back. He is on sick leave which is due to end next month. Complicating matters for the Dragons is that they need Molo to move on in order to sign David Klemmer to a top 30 spot given the Dragons squad is full.
Molo has two seasons left on a contract worth about $500-600k a season.

Flanno has really lost the plot.
I am not a Gus fan but can see now why they were not keen on him.
There squad seems out of whack, he signed basically veterans cast aside by other clubs.
And all past there peak, unless they are some breakout players,.
I do think Ilias is a chance but he is coming back from a long term injury and his offisder is Flan jnr

Reckon Flanno would be a Chelsea supporter, they just throw blank cheques at a million players each season.
Cheese, At least a lot of them a decent players Chelsea buy.

Flanno is setting up an NRL nursing home.

Seriously most of the players being signed don’t have much fuel in the tank.

I reckon they really are going to be closer to the spoon than the top 8.

Hence, the delay on Hazelton Hawke signing with them - I’ve got a Saint mate who was crowing deluxe, crickets currently.
And the possible signing of Klemmer stinks - the type of signing this forum would have sung out for in the last few years late in the evening, half cut after a loss. Buyers / posters regret in the morning.

Molo should just go back there, half ass it and accept his exorbitant wage.

when has this bullshit hardball from a club ever worked?
