So SL is just as good as NRL guys. Just look at the proof. Even a contrived fixture like the WCC, perennially played in England in the NRL off-season and they can't even win that anymore. Not to mention how their "best" players perform at Test level. Although to be fair that "Exiles" team of NRL retirees beat England's finest so maybe the SL is better than English players make it look.

He's playing behind a dominant forward pack and being able to play his natural game and dictate the plays. He still comes up with occasional brain explosions and shocking defensive misses, but he also does a lot of good things for Catalans so nobody gets on his back too much. He was terrible for the first few games where it looked as if he had no confidence at all, but since that has improved he's looked a different player, he's even become a good goal-kicker whereas at the start of the year he was missing from next to the sticks. Like Carmont, I suspect he is a player that was misused at his former club and also a player who's style suits Super League more than it did the NRL. Conversely, you get rep players or players that are rated in Australia that come over and are absolutely hopeless, and other players like Marc Herbert who are equally shit in both comps. It's no reflection of the overall quality, just the way players fit into their teams and the roles they are expected to play.

I am pleased to hear that. I enjoy the entertainment of the SL and players like this probably help. He isn't a bad footballer on his day, just can't do some of the more important things well consistantly.

Good re-signing. He's a lot like SKD, makes errors but you can't fault 'em when they put it on line and other days it comes off.

We've figured out that buying overpriced and over the hill 30 somethings to be our halfbacks isn't the right move. We're going to give one of our juniors first go, Adam Reynolds. He led us to the NYC grand final last year. And we bought 2 good halves from Queensland cup to be his backups.

You can go the Canberra-Orford way or you can do it the right way. There are so few genuinely talented halves that are on the market you're better off developing your own 9 times out of 10.

Maguire and Matty Johns to do to Reynolds what they did to Cronk.
