Rumoured Targets 3

Yep both get constantly bagged and now all of a sudden they're irreplaceable pillars of the club. DSaf has enough ability but still doesn’t have the consistency and mentality you need from a forward leader on that salary. We paid Best on potential to lock him down long term and he hasn’t lived up to it in any way, shape or form.

Big changes are needed. Change involves moving underperforming players on. All the article says is we’d be open to offers from other clubs and I don’t see that as a negative thing at all.

Best and Safs are still far from where they need to be, and we have been patient enough. We are right to demand it happens week to week. They are paid to be that player.

I reckon we can't keep both Mann and Crossland.
Gamble now competes with Mann at lock (along with others).
Crossland isn't a first choice pick. I don't think either are in it to play NSW Cup.
I'd be OK if we spilt the Safitis. Might stir up whoever is left.

Weidler saying we are open to moving on DSaf and Bradman because we need to shed salary due to Pongas contract.

The actual report is just contention based on the fact that the 3 of them are on large contracts rather than any info from the club.

Potential players are not necessary the top notch. More of a case of lack of local top notch leaving our best to be just below that.
It’s not that they aren’t good it’s more inconsistent

Let's be honest, D.Saf and Best should be elite level players by now. One is injury prone and defensively suspect and the other lacks drive and intent and only has 5 great games a year, 3 of those being for NSW.

At the very least these rumours might light a fire under them. In the case of D.Saf though, I doubt it. Perennial underachievers both of them.

I think Best will go on and become a top centre. He finally looks over his injuries.

DSaf goes okay but not worth the coin he is on. He can go.

Best plays in a position we should be spending down on. I'm actually OK with trusting that spot to Mapalangi if need be.
Dsaf we'd have more trouble replacing but we've seen it's far from impossible. Look at the huge improvement in Leo.

You have to factor in that Gagai is 32 years old and isn’t a long term proposition, if Mapapalangi comes good he’s most likely going to be Gagai’s long term replacement

Gagai hasn’t many seasons left but haven’t seen anything from Maps to suggest he is ready, probably got next season to get ready but for now I would rather see Lucas or Sasagi at centre.

Maps showed enough for me last year. He will be a solid replacement for Gags

Lucas is destined for the backrow and Sasagi is an awful defender out wide

If we are paying Best 700k and Ponga 1.5m, the rest of the squad must be paid in meat pies and sausage rolls!
