Yeah I reckon Brown backed himself into a corner with the Peter Mata'utia signing a bit. It was a good solid signing and still is, especially given we got him cheap. At the time it was needed because we had his brother stinking up the joint in the centres and we desperately needed another first grade standard centre whilst Ross was playing on the wing and hadn't been tried at centre yet and wasn't setting the world on fire at that stage. As it turns out Ross is a bit wasted on the wing and he's more effective getting more ball at centre or fullback. And while Pete is a solid centre, Ross is just simply a better player, but he needs to find a place in the team for Pete as he's definitely part of our best 17. The solution would be to try Ross at fullback, I also reckon he could be really good there as it's his preferred position. Or another one could be to move Pete to the right side as a centre in defence with Gagai on the wing in defence, switching in attack so Gagai in the centres Pete on the wing with Ross at left centre Elliot left wing.

Ross was named at fullback in the 2014 NSW Cup team of the year- the position isn't anything new to him.

I don't think Ross has a playmaking game at all? Rules him out as an NRL fullback. By the time he's up to scratch, he'll almost be retired and we need another fullback.

Pffft no he's not

Ross and even Mamo are better. Pete is and always has been a centre from the day I saw him in the lower grades

Give me Pete over Mamo at fullback any day. Ross hasn't played fullback in first grade so hard to say he's better at this stage.

So how tall and heavy do you want your backrower/s?

In an ideal world, 6'3-6'4, 105-110kg. Sonny Bill is the prototype in the modern game.

He is listed at 188cm (6'2) and 100kg... I am 187cm and I have stood near him I am easily an inch (probably two or more) taller. I reckon he is under 6ft and probably 97-98kg max. Smaller than a lot of wingers.

Not saying he isn't a goer, but I think we massively over-rate him because we really don't have anyone else to rate.

To me, he plays like a middle forward - all aggression - but hasn't shown a whole heap in running angles or ball playing. Unless he goes on the Paul Gallen diet, he is never going to have the frame to pull that off.

Ryan James running over him to score was not exactly his finest moment either.

I know the club have massive wraps on him, but my feeling is if he is a perfect squad player, but if he is starting for you, you aren't going far.

Interestingly, Tariq is listed at 6'4 and Korbin at 6'2... Korbin is right but Tariq is LOL

I think we should stick with Mamo as fullback if nothing changes on the signing front.

I do think Ross would do a fantastic job - although I could seem him forcing the play making options.

How come we can get players that are all effort little skill (Mamo, Elliott, Barnett, Fitzgibbon) or players who are all potential but don't have the application... but not the combination of skill and effort?

Well if his listed height and weight are correct then he' s perfect. Same size as Cordner and Gillett.

That's my point. They quite obviously aren't, and his game is not like those two. He wants to play like David Klemmer but is10kg and 10cm short of being able to.

I know I suggested it but I think we should be sticking with Mamo at fullback. We need stability t the moment in that position, and hopefully a solid pre season with Mamo at the back can give him some more experience there.

I do think Ross would make a great FB though. But no point chopping and changing positions around not really giving anyone a chance to learn the position.

I'd like Ross at fullback but I'd like him playing at centre even better. He is great at beating guys 1-1

His game there against the Cowboys was a standout

Move Pete to the wing

I still think Feeney has a place in the team long term. He was thrown into first grade in an unfamiliar position way too early, but he has the skills to play a number of positions. Another year in NSW Cup playing against men (especially defending) and he should be good to go in 2018. Would love to see him off the bench as an impact player.

What, you mean like Joey Leilua :p...I've got to give credit to Sticky - whatever he's said or inserted has certainly progressively seen the effort factor and the skill factor grow exponentially since he's shifted clubs

For mine I would prefer to stick with Mamo and see it through. Constant change doesn't help us as a team and for mine Mamo has had some good performances this year and last year at fullback. He isn't a ball player and he may never be but neither is Mata'utia or Ross. Mamo is still young and I would like to back him and see where he can go
