No one foresaw the form of Crossland and his emergence this year. The club would be aware the interest in him will be pretty big if it continues. And he can technically leave after Nov 1 for a club in 2025. Our spine is the priority. KP needs to be able to play his free roaming style which has unleashed him this season. J Saf just seems to be busier. Added to that the club will not want anyone getting near Pryce and KPP if they are what we hope. Cos it will be Dom all over again. Nov 1 next year they can negotiate with anyone.
All speculative at this stage. But we have at least been motivated to build on what we acheived this year.

You don’t sink nearly $900,000 on a player of DSaf’s calibre and hope to win a premiership. We can either spend that much money and get a game breaking prop, or invest it in our spine and put the savings towards a mid-tier prop who’ll probably have the same output.

Brailey’s an interesting one. If he goes down again next year letting him leave would have been a great move…however the Warriors final kinda highlighted that we need a specialist hooker other than Crossland in the side for big games (definitely don’t want to single him out as the whole team was off but he did struggle).

If Crossland is our starting hooker, it might give us the opportunity to blood someone like Jones off the bench to get some first grade experience. There’s no real bench utility in the squad now that Mann is gone, so may as well go with a specialist hooker.

Not opposed to letting Dan go. He's been frustratingly inconsistent for years and I'd rather move him on than Jacob given salary vs output. That said, it's a big NO to letting anyone go without a suitable upgrade/trade in our favour.

We just can't be that team anymore.

How do you define “output”? Because yes, there are other players earning a little less than he does who have comparable or larger numbers for metres etc on their stats page. I’d be surprised if many or even any of them have won more quick play the balls which are immediately followed by a try or line break though.

I wish there was a stat called "seen walking in the background after after a try is scored due to poor effort in the ruck" because Dsaf would be right up there.

An article saying he lost 5kgs during injury layoff in August tells you plenty.

But next year will be his year for sure.

Would be a lot more simple if the prop who's getting paid a bit too much wasn't the identical twin of the prop we're actively trying to re-sign. Could justify losing 1 but they'll be in a big hole if Jacob then decides he wants out too.

There’s a whisper around tiger town that the knights are interested in Jake Simpkin and we’re discussing a player swap, unsure who the knights is.

Ryan Rivett would make a lot of sense. We have ample halves cover and probably don’t want to find ourselves in a situation where Brailey goes down again and our only hooking options are utilities (as much as Phoenix improved). Wests probably wouldn’t mind another halves prospect to compete with Sullivan and Fainu.

Is Jake any good?

Very highly rated junior. Captained QLD U/19s and was man of the match in their jnr origin win. Hasnt lived upto the potential in first grade however is still only 21. Destroys nsw cup when he plays there but then tries to do the same in first grade (lots of crash plays) which rarely work. Front on defense can be quiet poor. Hard to say if its just being in a shit team or he just needs some more time to develop. I definitely think hes worth a try for a club and could end up being a pretty good first grader.

Has a smoking hot mrs too

Nothing special, but probably has some untapped potential yet. The club is looking for another diamond in the rough.
Just looked up his stats and he is 188cm and 94kgs so looks like a big lad. Also only 22. Looks a good signing with a big upside and very little downside.
