Rumoured Targets 3

I think we should all save our judgement for levi until after he is fully fit, isn't 21 years old, has a decent team around him and gets a bit more experience.

There is a reason why he was selected to train with the NZ squad this year. There is a player there.

Barry Toohey's article this morning contained a few interesting things. Firstly, Jake Mamo is being chased by Stone and Huddersfield despite having a contract next year, it says he is yet to convince Brown that he is the long term fullback solution. Also Tyler Randell has been told that he won't be offered a new contract post 2017 and is free to look at other options, end up at Huddersfield as well. He also says Fensom is not part of our plan, with Bird the main target and Heighington amongst the list of 'options'.

Indeed. They've had a fairly consistent squad this year, mostly suspensions and poor form changing their team.

Hopefully Mamo does leave. I wouldn't mind Ross being at the back next year and I'm sure Stone and co freaked when Mamo looked like he was going to be a star and signed him to a large contract. Even if Ross at 1 is temporary until we can sign a solid fullback, it would be better than persisting with Mamo.

Judging by Mamo's game, I reckon he got the heads up before the game that the club won't stand in his way if he gets an offer from another club in 2017.

Well Brown did say if a club comes calling we may let players go we would otherwise keep. Mamo fits one of those criteria!

We just don't need him, this could be a blessing and give Ross the pre season to train as fullback and see how he goes. If he fails he can't be worse than Mamo, and we have Gags anyway we can play there for a similar ability.

Let him go now, and save the space.

I hadn't seen the article and when Tyler came out to the fence after the game he seemed a bit dejected. More so than getting belted again lol. The players have seemed in good spirits each week after games.

Noticed Tom Starling in NYC today, man of the match performance at Hooker. Keep this kid, if he keeps playing like that through to grade he will be a very handy asset. Smart dummy half runs, good defender, good service from dummy half.

One thing i noticed about Ross is he seems to never drop high balls when he is flipped over and upside down with one hand behind his back but i remember earlier in the season he dropped some no pressure easy bombs.

I'd like to see Ross have a go at FB but I reckon Brown would have tried him by now if he considered it.

I still say, in lieu of a star recruit, our best option is Peter Matautia...

He was by far our stand out in our game against the Tigers (his first match back after injury and first at the club).

He seemed to clean up every break (the tries would always come the play after, when the rest of the team was needed) and he never seemed overwhelmed. He may not be a superstar but, given the hand we've got, i think he is the go...

EDIT: however, if not PeteMat, than Ross would be my next in line

Signing a good fullback would solve about 50% of our on field problems IMO.

They also play a very important role in organising the defensive line and I very much doubt Gagai or Mamo would be great at that.
