Rumoured Targets 3

Just in regards to our forward pack I can't remember when we last had a really intimidating pack. If you look at the top teams at the moment they all have packs that bash you up the middle and bully the opposition. We need a bit of intimidation in our armoury in order to compete against the top teams.

I think that Barnett can be the guy to do that, he could be the second coming of BK if he continues to improve. I also think the Saifitis could be intimidating as well but they need to take some angry pills or something because at the moment they aren't really scaring anyone.

If we could add another couple of tough forwards to the pack it would help immensely. I know that he's a bit up and down and prone to a penalty or two but what about someone like Ryan James? I think he's off contract for next year and he's a monster of a man with good skills and really hits hard and can break the line as well. I doubt that this opinion will be shared by that many but he would at least bring a bit of x-factor to our front row.

Honestly I just want to see us sign a couple of good forwards to add to the rotation.

We do need to add the aggro though.

Another whopping 60m from Korbin tonight + let in a try with a horrible missed tackle. Can't wait to hear the media bang on about how good his form is.

I think Bennett hooked him.

No doubt hell be in the 'origin frame' to replace Matt Scott after that performance.

He looks like an hairy, angry marshmellow at times.

James re-signed with the Titans.

Barnett tries harder than anyone but shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as BK.

Oops I should have done my research before mentioning Ryan James haha. Back to the drawing board there.

It might have been premature to mention Barnett and BK but he's done a lot so far since he got here to suggest he's one of the guys we can build our club around for the next 10 years. That tackle on Johnston a couple of weeks ago was epic and there's definitely a few qualities there that remind me of BK.

Are we still looking at some players in the ESL? I thought Brown had a lot of contacts there.

You would think his UK ties would be a perfect fit for one of our main problem areas too - middle forwards. I'm happy for Brown to look elsewhere for outside backs, playmakers and even wide forwards (probably our strongest area at the moment), but surely there are one or two big boppers with decent motors over there looking for a shot in the NRL. We need some real size and aggression in the starting team so that guys like Daniel Saifiti and Starling are coming off the bench, not starting.

A young'ish but also relatively proven forward from the UK, plus someone like Matulino, would really make the forward pack look a lot stronger.

All the good forwards in the ESL are tied up in contracts
Not much of an excuse when Wardle was already under contract when we got him, and the Warriors managed to get Sam Tomkins over here. If the player is keen, and the club is willing to pay a transfer fee (something we're actually in a position to do with so much cap space free) then you can make it happen. It's possible that our stink has wafted across the globe and they know better than to come here.

We could even offer a replacement like Stockwell without really worrying about it too much. He adds f**k all to our squad, don't know why anyone rates him particularly. Highly overpaid, bog-standard (and that's being polite) prop forward.

Maybe thats our goal - to bring the rest down to our level...
I actually thought that during those 2 dropouts last night in Dogs v Broncs. Those dumb plays from Kahu and Roberts are the kind of shit we normally do. Stupid things you never see happen but we manage to do it to screw ourselves over. Good to see others doing it...especially the Broncos.

When Starling is in reserve grade ( where he belongs ) that's when we know the Knights are doing well again.

Realistically it's hard to imagine Bird choosing us over the Eels. All other things being equal, it's a choice between moving to Newcastle and playing alongside Plodko, or staying in Sydney and playing alongside Corey Norman in a team that already has top 8 potential.

I hope I'm wrong. Our best shot is probably for Bird to be excited about the idea of going to a club where he will immediately be a leader and key player. Rather than being brought down by us, perhaps he can take his game to a new level. Apart from money, what else do we have to offer him?

He lives in the Gong. Long drive to Parra.

Newcastle is a larger Wollongong, so might have appeal.

That's pretty good. Maybe we have a chance. The whole team has a very different look about it with 1. Ponga 6. Bird. We might even score a try that's not from a kick or long range fluke. Although if can't learn to execute a simple set play with depth then Ponga will be doing nothing but returning kicks. It was scary how bad we were yesterday when trying to get the ball out wide. It's like watching a slow motion catch and pass drill that gets swallowed up after two passes.
