Graham, Watson and a couple more forwards is a fair haul. Problem is those two players are contracted.
Barry Toohey this morning has us chasing Connor Watson (as well as SKD and Graham). In today's Newie version of the Telegraph. No link, just saw a photo...
Yeah. One of the Facebook groups put a photo of it up every Sunday so I read it there. The Telegraph never publishes it online though...You mean his weekly Castle Call article?
Increasing reports we are trying to get Maloney for next year as well.
Isn't his contract up this year and was chasing a decent upgrade?Apart from rookies Maloney has probably the best value for money deal in the NRL. Can someone explain why the Sharks would let him walk?
Good to see nearly everyone here is finally in board with what Brown and Mooney are trying to achieve and what to expect with current crop.
Where is the rumor coming from about Maloney? Haven't seen any written evidence is all.
Wicked thanks for that. That is good to see, and from Thooeys report that they are at least interested in Connor is great. Always been a believer that things happen for a reason. Missing on Foran and Bird could end up being a win for the likes of Connor, Maloney, Tolman, SKD, and maybe Graham. Maybe Hoffman.
Yeah, it would be great. I just can't see this strategy working. I feel like the Dogs will be able to find homes for the nuffies they don't want. That's really why I'm so disgruntled at the moment (the floggings don't help either), I just think this recruitment strategy is a very high risk of leaving us high and dry. It feels naive. I really hope Mooney and Brown can pull it off.Graham, Watson and a couple more forwards is a fair haul. Problem is those two players are contracted.

Barry has been saying for weeks he doesn't think the Roosters will let Watson go as he doesnt take on much of the cap. Bit of an about face.
Might not be taking much space up now, but next renegotiation he will and they'll have to find room somewhere.Barry has been saying for weeks he doesn't think the Roosters will let Watson go as he doesnt take on much of the cap. Bit of an about face.
Good to hear we've still got the feelers out at the moment.
The more I think about it the more I think that SKD might not be such a bad option. I know he's ridiculed a fair bit for some of his on field errors but our team is seriously lacking experience. The fact that Gags was the only player with 100+ games under his belt in our team yesterday is absolutely insane. SKD would at least bring much needed experience to our club, I could be wrong but I think he's played over 200 games right? Not to mention a very good try scoring record.
I know that there's plenty of people who won't agree with this post and fair enough. He's not the kind of player who's going to turn our fortunes around on his own but he might start the domino effect of players feeling that it's ok to sign with us which could mean if we land a guy like SKD there could be more signings to follow.
Currently I just feel like we need to sign someone (anyone) just to get the ball rolling on this recruitment drive and I can think of plenty of worse options than a guy with 200+ games as well as international experience and a premiership under his belt.
I don't think it's even that much of a risk tbh. At worst he's a better version of Pete Mat (in the sense that they're both error prone) at best he's a match winner who can do some pretty freakish things on his day and knows how to sniff out a try.
I doubt this post will convince everyone on here but I think the above reasons make SKD not such a bad recruitment target after all.
