Rumoured Targets 3

Yeah it's incredibly frustrating, we always seem to be behind the 8-ball.

Clubs like the Tigers are throwing offers around left, right & centre and all we ever hear about our recruitment is that we're "interested" in players or that we've "been in contact" but we don't seem to be making any actual offers to them.

I get the whole due diligence thing that we're doing but that whole process seems to take ages and meanwhile other clubs snap up all the talent on the open market.

So there is a bidding war for lolohea betweeen the tigers and cowboys.

Why aren't we getting involved?? Tigers have lost all their players but have already replaced them. They are active on the market and getting their targets. Yet here we are, twiddling our thumbs going after no one.

Don't rate him.

lol ones looked a bit fat in the gut playing for Tonga and really didn't see him in attack or defence. Admittedly can't make a call after watching one game of him, but he could be lazy and we really don't need a lazy player who doesn't have the work ethic on and off field.

You are being deliberately ignorant of just how much cash we have. We can upgrade in the backs AND sign positions of need.

And at any rate, not exactly many "positions of need" realistically players available to us and willing to talk right now.
I'm not being deliberately ignorant of anything tbh. We don't need a player like Hoppa and we certainly don't need to throw good money at him. Given his need to not play Sundays, which by all reports is something he wants to continue to run with, he is not a good enough option. Personally, I think Pete is a better fit weighing everything up

What ever cap space we do have we need to spend appropriately and if we are being fair dinkum, we'll need to throw a lot of $ at the good players we want to get for the positions I listed and that will chew cap space quickly

Buying up players with names even though they might not fit our needs is just not a smart thing to do. It's very similar to what got us in cap trouble on the first place, throwing cash at outside backs and ignoring our teams huge spine and front row issues

Who is available who is a possibility of coming here and worth big dollars?

We are going to struggle to spend the cap next year as is.

Right now? Noone really but with the big moves around the Dogs and other clubs coming soon that may change very quickly

How many players are going to take 1 year deals? Cause I hope you're not suggesting signing guys like Hoppa on multi year contracts that will chew up space beyond 2018

So we can sign dogs and roosters discards... who do we expect them to discard?

Heading in to next season with the marquee additions of Eastwood and SKD doesn't fill me with confidence

But Hoppa is better? Comon

Its a pity the NFL Draft is over. Maybe we could have thrown some cash at some young African American super athletes

I'd prefer lolohea over hoppa jr

Prefer a guy playing on the wing in NSW cup to a guy who has been an origin regular? Sure.

The only guy on the market who is going to do for us what we need a player to do is Cronk. And I can't see him touching us with a barge pole even if he has a two million offer and unlimited access to Jeff McCloy's chopper.

When the draft is over is the perfect time to be talking to young athletes who have trained in far better programs than the NRL about coming to play in the local league.

Park them at Souths, Wests, Kurri, Central - give them a year or two working holiday to learn the game and sample the local ladies. Wouldn't be a hard sell,

If one makes it, it is worthwhile. Could do it with Fijians too.

Low risk high reward.

What we are doing now isn't working, only a complete negative idiot like you would shitcan an idea where we have nothing to lose in favour of the same old.
