Doesn't worry me either way if Gagai stays or goes, not giving value the way he plays. What I cant work out is there no one in our coaching staff that can teach him to get way, way deeper in attack to give himself some room & run onto the ball at speed. At least then he can run straight & hard, make ground forward rather than palm off 4 blokes run 20 metres sideways for no net gain & maybe set up his winger instead of running away from him. Watching Wardle burst onto that ball at pace yesterday for his try is a great example of how hitting the ball at speed puts you in the box seat against flat footed defences, you are dictating terms not them, as opposed to flat attacks running in circles trying to find a hole, where you end up getting rag dolled in a gang tackle after bugger all progress. Gagai in defence is proof that grabbing at jerseys is as ineffective at NRL level as it is in under 7s & again is there no one in our coaching staff who can address this? Aaron Gray would be a good signing in that he has some mongrel in him, plenty of energy & likes to get in the oppositions faces & compete. In other words he's a scrapper not a show pony & that sort of mindset feeds into the teams attitude just like Barnett & Ross do at times, we need more players not willing to go down easy!

Inglis highly respected by the indigenous players, even if he's not on the field. After hearing that Souths offer, which is actually less money in total, very happy with what the knights have on the table.

I'm officially over the constant reporting on potential targets at this point, just going to sit back and see what the squad looks like in March next year. It might look like it does now, it might look vastly different, time will tell.

The Souths deal is more money per year which is more important than "in total".

Not trying to be a dick here, but what has changed so much for you in the last 24 hours?

Yeah if Souths think Gags is the long term fb replacement for Inglis they will be disappointed. Would have been nice to keep him but give me Gray and A Nother for 600k and I am happy.

Realised it's a waste of time arguing with people trying to predict the future. If anyone could accurately forecast how this ends up they'd be rich enough to own the Knights.

And total money is important. What if gags gets a bad injury, or his form disappears, or he turns out to be less talented that expected? He could potentially be behind.

From a performance point of view I wouldnt be that devastated if Gagai left but i just hope this doesnt spook potential recruits given the fact he is our only current origin player.

I meant from calling me "wilfully ignorant" for not wanting to throw whatever money we had to to keep Gagai to now being "very happy" to let him walk.

To be fair the one and only thing that will make us attractive to potential recruits is more wins. To do that we need guys around Gagai stepping up an improving like we had yesterday.

Love the Roosters fan saying "just find $500K in TPA's" like everybody can do it easily...

Might be amusing in theory but if you could score one of the best 5 players in the league you wouldn't need to source your third party agreements from just the Newcastle area but you could source them from around the country. This gives you equal opportunity and could pull you a 500k agreement.

Lets face it, lots of agreements would exist for Cronk, he's a well spoken individual, phenomenal player, good role model to the kids. If Inglis can do tons of cash in TPA's I'm sure Cronk could also.

If Gagai has signed for Souths maybe we can get a player swap happening before June 30.

It would be nice but that's not how the NRL works anymore. What will probably happen is Souffs get Gagai, another Sydney team with f*** all crowd support will pick up Gray and we'll be left scouting the Maitland Pumpkin Pickers for a replacement or just settle on having Brendan Elliott in our first grade team on a permanent basis.

F*** the NRL. We bring so much to the game and get nothing back in return.
