Doesn't worry me either way if Gagai stays or goes, not giving value the way he plays. What I cant work out is there no one in our coaching staff that can teach him to get way, way deeper in attack to give himself some room & run onto the ball at speed. At least then he can run straight & hard, make ground forward rather than palm off 4 blokes run 20 metres sideways for no net gain & maybe set up his winger instead of running away from him. Watching Wardle burst onto that ball at pace yesterday for his try is a great example of how hitting the ball at speed puts you in the box seat against flat footed defences, you are dictating terms not them, as opposed to flat attacks running in circles trying to find a hole, where you end up getting rag dolled in a gang tackle after bugger all progress. Gagai in defence is proof that grabbing at jerseys is as ineffective at NRL level as it is in under 7s & again is there no one in our coaching staff who can address this? Aaron Gray would be a good signing in that he has some mongrel in him, plenty of energy & likes to get in the oppositions faces & compete. In other words he's a scrapper not a show pony & that sort of mindset feeds into the teams attitude just like Barnett & Ross do at times, we need more players not willing to go down easy!
