I'm only quoting what Massoud's thoughts were on radio this morning. Hopefully he is wrong.

I also hop Herman does not forgo close to 200K a season as players in Brisbane feel they need to.

I should have added.... Alex Glenn has taken a pay cut to stay a Bronco. He came out and said he knew there wouldnt be much coin left due to Milford getting a squillion.

Interesting that so many players stay there for unders their entire career. Managers sure advise their clients to make unusual income decisions up there.

Jesus so our recruitment drive consists of Ponga and a couple of Roosters rejects one of which we paid big overs for. Are we sure this Darren Mooney bloke isn't Michael Hagan in a wig?

Everyone needs to calm down, I still think we're a decent chance we'll get Herman. Just because one journo says something doesn't make it true, could be getting fed info from the player manager to try and get us to bump up our final offer.

Also let's all remember that the signings that we made for 2017 were pretty much all during the off season, so still plenty of time for us to sign more players. We won't really be able to judge how successful our recruitment drive is until round 1 2018.

Yes I did say they were only Masoud's thoughts and he obviously could be wrong. He also thought Herman's manager had possibly used us and the fact the Broncs need him to get some more money out of Brisbane.

There's no such noise being made about Moga

You're right. I was so much more expecting that superstars would be lining up for miles to come play for the wooden spooners who are chock full of kids...

You're joking yourself. It was always going to be a shitfight to bring top quality players here. There is no magic bullet.

I'm pretty sure he was being facetious when it came to the Mooney part.

Magic Bullet or not it is still disappointing and worth questioning.

The Sharks came last in 2014 yet still managed to recruit well for 2015. After a spoon and the ASADA scandal Cronulla was a pretty unappealing option but they still signed Barba, Ennis, Bird and others.
We've signed a talented kid and a couple of washed up old blokes that weren't wanted at their club. Not saying it's all Mooney's fault but it is disappointing to say the least.

Bird was barely anyone in the under 20's, Barba was a discard, Ennis lacked attention from other clubs.

It's easy to say they recruited well in hindsight but at the time I guarantee you didn't rate them as premiership contenders like many else did.

Bird was highly rated in the 20's at St George. Not as much as Ponga to be fair. Ennis and Barba had abit risk about them but still were quality players. Guerra and SKD are a mile below their
quality.

People were bagging Barba throughout 2013, his switch to the Broncos was immediately met with heavy criticism from fans and when he went to Cronulla they didn't see him as anything more than a fill in for Holmes. Ennis was thought to have been over the hill and went to Cronulla for one last pay day. Nobody expected him to gain a final wind and put in the performances he did.

They are absolutely comparable to Guerra and SKD.

Guerra at his best is middle of the road and SKD has always
been rock and diamonds and has detiorated a fair bit. There is a massive gulf in quality between them.

Guerra was goin' off a couple seasons back. He could really produce here if we get some more go forward for next year and he is fairdinkum having a go.

I hope so. He needs to get back to the level he was to earn his paypacket.

The truth is that even with all the knocking of our new rooster friends, fit and well, they will improve our side, which doesn't say much for our overall squad, so maybe instead of knocking it we should embrace it

I don't have an issue with signing Guerra. Just thought it was a bit expensive considering he approached us and was unwanted at the Chooks. Not a fan of SKD but he'd be on peanuts so you can cop it.
But they should be our 5th and 6th biggest signings if we're fair dinkum. Whether they improve the side or not(which is questionable where SKD is concerned) if they're considered marquee signings we've got anther spoon coming.

He's coming from a top 4 team that features JWH, Napa and Cordner. I struggle to see how he's going to improve coming to Newcastle.

Well, he can't be much worse Slots.

We get a couple of decent props and he takes his new contract seriously and has a go, he'll easily improve upon his last 18 months.

No brainer Slothmachine.

At the moment I feel that we need to accept progress over perfection. If Guerra and SKD improve our top 17 (which IMO they do) then it's a good move, especially if they can teach our young guys a thing or two about winning which we so badly need.
