600k for a player with his level of experience is pretty good value. Sure he doesn't always top the statistics tables, but he has spent years and year in successful systems (except for the tigers). Current captain of his country, reportedly an excellent trainer and clubman, and would deliver a level of merkin that we're currently lacking.

Graham was my first choice, but I just don't think his body is up to it anymore

I'm not sure there's a better option available on the market to be honest. I struggle to think of any club who will shed a player better than Blair if they're over the cap for next year. As Fred said, all faith in Brown and Mooney at this point; Blair does bring experience and mongrel that we do need. Plus can play prop which is what we need.

I'd still take Graham if he has the chance purely just to help shape the culture and attitude of the club. But Blair is a much, much better option than Lillyman.

I was the under the impression that we are chasing a couple more fowards so why not get both, aren't we still 1.2 million under this year that should be enough to get both.there no one left to grab of any worth! THERE EXPERIENCE would be so valuable to the rest of the squad and help the safitis immensely.

With this performance from the dogs tonight is certainly gonna help drop the price tag on there players. There absolutely shithouse no energy at all, they just dont want to be there.contacts is playing with there heads:joy:its quite humorous really.

They are just a really poorly coached team who have been on the slide for a while now. No spine at all. Graham was at his best 3 years ago. Possible the injury is to blame for his recent pòor form.

Surely Des gets the boot after tonight.

Blair: 20 games, 51 minutes per game, 10 runs 89 metres, 25 tackles, 2 missed, 0 line breaks, 0 tries 1 try assist

Lillyman: 19 games, 46 minutes per game, 13 runs 126 metres, 26 tackles, 1.7 missed, 0 line breaks, 0 tries 0 try assists

Stats aside, Lillyman gets my vote because he didn't sign a big money deal at a struggling club then mail it in for three years.

Can't see Blair offering more than his 90m a week... Graham might make 70m a week but he'd offer so much more on the pitch as a leader and off it as a mentor... Then again Blair does have some X-Factor about him and could be the difference between a 4 point loss and a 2 point win... He is only entering his prime as a forward as well right?

That old chestnut about "props entering their prime in late 20s" doesn't apply in the modern game imo.

The speed and violence these days means a lot of very good forwards are wrecked by 30,
especially if the debuted early.

Blair is 31 already and will be 32 early next season, I can't think of many players at all who hit their prime in their early to mid 30's especially a guy like Blair who debuted at a young age

Go with who we have signed and make a play for Cordner for 2019. Maybe just another prop.
I reckon if we had just made prop signings this squad would still have a future. It would just take longer.
I really don't want to lose some of our guys that have pushed through what we have been through.
We've been asking for leadership and I reckon Buhrer is doing it. It's not as obvious as we might like but his influence on the game is there.
