I'm really interested in who the 5 or 6 new signings will be. I know a lot will depend on which clubs have to lose players to get under the cap but who are your 5 players you think we could realistically/possibly get?

With the way our boys have improved this season plus our new signings and the signings to come, we're gonna have one hell of a side next year

Daniel & Jacob have agreed to 2 year extensions according to Toohey. Keep the good news coming.

Seriously, the good news of late with Wests Group takeover, signings and resignings/extensions, big bucks still left to spend, Brown publicly getting on the front foot re sticking to the cap, lack of major injuries to players, no off field dramas since Mullo's story, 3 wins in a row .........

.......after so much shit for such a long period of time it is an incredible feeling to have positive news continually flow from the club. Like we are a professional outfit for once.

Fingers crossed it doesn't stop.

Having the twins for on the books is enormous news. Just how good can they be? When does that extension take them through to?

It will take them through until the end of 2020. Should clarify though, nothing has been signed. Both parties have agreed on the length of the extension but there's still things to work through. Importantly, they don't want to test the open market so it should get done pretty quickly.

Yep. Make this happen. Get them under lock and key before the vultures start circling with their cheque books.

You guys have got a good dilemma on your hands for next year.

Watson was absolutely amazing at fullback last night. His kick returns were awesome. The kid has a heart like Phar Lap!

I genuinely feel that's his best position so perhaps Ponga will find himself at 5/8.

Either way I think the top 8 is within reach next year if you add a couple of experienced leaders like Graham...

If Brown gets all the recruits he wants esp. the extra props, Watson will have enough time and space to kill it at 6. And if Ponga struggles at 1, Watson is an option.

Loving the depth.

I have managed to infiltrate a cowboys Facebook supporters group and 90% of them don't rate ponga and say he's a terrible defender and can not organise the defensive line.

Not sure if this is just sour grapes or not, but looking at Watson at fullback kind of makes me want to go with

1. Watson
2. Ross
3. Moga
4. SKD
5. Ponga
6. Lamb
7. Hodkinson

If ponga comes in and struggles a lot defensively it may be an option until he improves that aspect of his game.

Unless Ponga and Watson have terrible Pre-Seasons and show Brown they truly just aren't ready for NRL in said position (not possible) then Brown will 100% give them both quite a lot of time to build combinations, trust & confidence in the team.

He has managed to get the best out of this young squad by sticking with them most of the year (or bringing them back in i.e. Hodgo). I think the team will perform quite well with the talent we'll have learning from each othe each week and getting better.

Gags defense is terrible, but we are getting better. Just about establishing trust in your teammate.

Exactly. Even if Ponga does have a few defensive issues:

a) he is a kid they can be fixed wiyh coaching and;

b) Dane Gagai played origin and he is a terrible defender.

He is still learning to be an nrl player. The confidence and communication will improve the more games he plays.

The Cowboys fans on this forum say the same things but clarify it by sayin a lot has to do with size and he will bulk up as he gets older.

Dogs keep shopping their plodders around, they aren't going to get what they want for them. They are going to need to get rid of at least one of foran woods or klemmer on top of a couple of the plodders they are shopping around.

Could do worse than tolman, he's no frills and will do a job, but we are better off waiting and seeing what else we can get
