Wasn't Tyrone Roberts an option for us at one stage this year? I wouldn't mind him as depth. Not happening?

It’s a bit ironic that we let Cogger go and sign the guy that he’s replacing at the Bulldogs.

To be fair I would rather have Frawley than Cogger, his kicking game is decent and he at has at least looked like a first grader from time to time.

Realistically he’ll be playing NSW Cup most of the time for us but hopefully if he’s called upon he’ll at least guide the side around the park which is something Cogger and Lamb have failed to do this year.

IMO we need to have a serious crack at Mason Lino, the kid is first grade material and has proven that this year. I would even be open to the idea of putting him at 5/8 and moving Watson to hooker. That way Levi can go back to the bench or NSW Cup. If we could offer him $300k-$350k and a more regular shot at first grade maybe he’d see us as an attractive option.

Do we really think Watson is a better hooker than Levi, sure he has things to improve on and is still young but can't understand the sudden set against him. Watson has potential but unproven.

The problem with Levi is that it’s one step forward and two steps back. He’s capable of splitting the markers open with his running game and pinching valuable metres and momentum for us or throwing a smart pass to a runner close to the line but he’s also good for 3 or 4 stupid errors/penalties per game as well as his tendency to go for the glory play way too often. Also his attitude seems pretty poor as well based on the stuff we saw earlier in the year.

I don’t think Watson is a long term hooker but I wouldn’t be against having Levi start next season in reserve grade again if he doesn’t sort out the I’ll-discipline during the off season and trial matches.

The other thing is Brown hasn’t mentioned in the media that we’re looking at recruiting a hooker and he’s normally pretty up front about that stuff so I’m assuming we’ll have to make do with what we’ve got.

All of the sudden? Mate everyone here has been well aware of Levi's shortcomings for a very, very long time, and most wouldn't hesitate letting him walk out the door.

I know he has shortcomings but is young, don't think I would let him walk out the door without a replacement as good or better. I am sure that many on these forums think he is better than some of you give him credit for so its your opinion only

I'd be quite happy with Luke. I doubt he'll want to move all the way to Newcastle for a one year deal but if it's only two years, that'd be solid. Three is stretching it. A spine of:

1. Ponga
6. Watson
7. Pearce
9. Luke

Is up there with the best in the comp and perhaps the best spine we've had ever bar when Joey was wearing the 7. Any spine with Joey in the 7 was the best in the comp. Bedsy was class as well but Ponga, Pearce and Luke is gonna be pretty special.

I'm torn with Bird. If he comes cheap, then that's great but he did ditch us just a season ago... If it means we don't have to see Yates, King or Stone week in week out, I'd take him.
