I'd be quite happy with Luke. I doubt he'll want to move all the way to Newcastle for a one year deal but if it's only two years, that'd be solid. Three is stretching it. A spine of:

1. Ponga
6. Watson
7. Pearce
9. Luke

Is up there with the best in the comp and perhaps the best spine we've had ever bar when Joey was wearing the 7. Any spine with Joey in the 7 was the best in the comp. Bedsy was class as well but Ponga, Pearce and Luke is gonna be pretty special.

I'm torn with Bird. If he comes cheap, then that's great but he did ditch us just a season ago... If it means we don't have to see Yates, King or Stone week in week out, I'd take him.
No, No, No, okay Yates and King but why Stone, didn't play firsts had Guerra, Sione, Barnett, Fitz, sometimes Esee in front what did he do wrong

Stone is still a pretty decent prospect imo. Runs a good line, decent size, pretty good defender. He was of our best in NSW Cup week in and week out, not that there was a lot of competition there.

Was just unlucky that back row our only position that was injury free in First Grade.

What use do we have for Bird? You'd want the Broncos paying a lot of freight to consider it at this point.

According to Toohey on The Joust podcast Tevita won’t officially sign anything until November because he’s waiting for his manager’s contract to expire. Despite the interview on 7 I don’t think we’ve heard the last of the situation yet. Also said Knights officials aren’t super confident of signing him for 2019, but think they have a better chance in 2020. Obviously if he signs long-term with Brisbane that won’t be possible.

The Frawley situation is apparently not as far down the track as Matt himself made it sound also. Toohey said he won’t be surprised if Frawley does end up at the club because they’re looking for 2 backup halves to replace Lamb & Cogger, but he definitely isn’t the #1 choice.

Bennett ignominiously being shown the door would be the next best thing to signing Pangai.

The interview I watched didnt have Pangai saying he was signing just that he owed the Broncos loyalty. Loyalty doesnt pay the bills, cash does.

It is past the point of hilarious that Brisbane can some how be even close to abiding by the cap with the roster they have signed now without losing a few good players in their current squad.

Nah let the Broncos keep Jack Bird. They wanted to pay him almost $1m and now they regret it so let them lie in the bed they made for themselves. Also he strung us along for a while and clearly didn’t believe in what Brown & Mooney were doing here and said he wanted to stay in Sydney because of family but then signed with the Broncos anyway. Good riddance, he’s being paid insane money to sit on the sidelines and eat McDonalds so let him stay up there.

yeh I thought it an odd signing for the Broncos at the time. They didnt actually need him, they had their spine locked up and yet paid Bird spine/marque money to join the club.

You would think an inability to offliod their costly mistake would make it extemely difficult to then fit both Oates and Pangai in considering they have been offered a fortune elsewhere and will be massively upgraded if they stay in Brisbane.

Surely.

I think Bird would be a fantastic pick up, especially with the Broncos paying a large amount. He has had a terrible year however he came off a terrible offseason with surgery and not having his injuries properly treated. At his best he would be fantastic. I reckon he would be a fantastic running 5/8 with Pearce at 7 and Ponga ballplaying at 1. This would give Watson the ability to split hooker with Levi
