ummm I dont see this announcement ( Buhrer ) being a disappointment or a let down and not sure how anyone could. He's our co-captain and a important leader at the club.

Anyone seriously thinking that it would be an announcement on Klemmer would be living in Disneyland.

I'm sure the analytics were given a nice spike due to the surrounding Klemmer speculation and the image of Buhrer with NIB blazoned on the jersey receiving more clicks ( attention ) than otherwise. In my opinion it's a marketing coup. Couldnt of announced the Buhrer re-signing at a better time.

My directive in my business given a similar situation would be to release as much of the bland stuff immediately for maximum exposure while the Knights are on everyone's lips.

Unless its regarding humping a doggie or bashing a lady anytime someone's talking about your brand is a positive.

In my experience that's something that just isn't true, but I do know of people who run their show that way with mixed results. I can give some really good examples of this not being the case and having a very damaging effect on a brand. Are you aware of the #yourtaxi campaign?

By the sound of things you're quite reckless with your brand. Probably still beats too conservative/not being engaged at all. I don't think duping your audience is a good strategy on any platform in 2018. In a world of fakeness and soundbites, authenticity and honesty resonate with people more than ever.

on the contrary, there was nothing not authentic about the release. Nothing negative about it at all. It was a positive signing and positive message.

Far from reckless with my branding, and my company is in association with some of the most successful brands in the world ( in my field ) . I've built a company from scratch to being one of the most successful in the country, in a very different culture and one where the language is not my mother tongue. Integrity and honesty are the cornerstones to the general philosophy of any good company. Marketing is a study psychology and I am very aware of how it works.

Jeez the reaction on social media is abit over the top. They’re insulting Buhrer like it was all his idea or something. It’s pretty disrespectful.

Fair enough, your approach isn't one that any agency I've worked at or with would take... but if it works for you then power to you.

If it was an honest mistake in the wake of the Klemmer thing blowing up then you're right, it was an honest and authentic post (if not totally tone deaf). If they were conciously taking advantage of the Klemmer news for a few extra clicks then it was hopelessly inauthentic clickbait and, in my opinion, misguided.

If you don't think the announcement was negative, just check the replies to the tweet.

yeh I guess my market is very different as well. I'm sure NIB and the Knights sponsors arent disappointed with the exposure though and at the end of the day they also pay the bills along with the fans .I'm sure they wont leave the bus because their expectation levels werent satisfied this time around.

Oh god no, at the end of the day it's an intellectual discussion more than anything else. It's not going to have a lasting impact in the slightest. At the end of the day my frustration stems from wanting the club to be better, in all areas. I want to read people congratulating JB, not pissing on him because they're let down by a social media gee up. More than anyone else the handling of this media release was a disservice to Jamie himself.
