Rumoured Targets 3

Brown hasn't pinned his hopes on any of the near 13 or 14 players he's given a go at hooker.

Griff has grit and good defensive technique but he is lacking in other areas. Not a threat at sll out of dummy half and service is pretty predictable too.

Levi has speed and some attack but is deficient in defence and prone to being selfish. He generally has a go.

For mine Brown still hasn't found the hooker we need or I'd like to see play 80 mins each week. Which is clear in the way he used both players last year.

You are doing your condescending thing again JM.
He's not wrong, though.

People from there come to this site to bring up there repetitive and quite frankly boring arguments that lack any critical thought outside of winz.

The Sione "debates", the "Brown sux" talks - they're worthless arguments, the majority of the time coming from people who have no intention of discussion and just want to beat others over the head with their opinion.

It's a waste of time, and a waste of bandwidth.

I've already stated that I don't like the idea of Mann starting in the #9 and it is a huge punt. A potential swing and miss from Brown.
But saying the likes of Bhana were part of Brown's search for a #9 shows just how petty people are willing to be to make their point and push their agenda.
Snooze.

Snooze.
It’ll only take a successful season (top 8, 1 or 2 wins in the finals) to completely change their opinions.

Disagree re Brown's search for a 9. The search is still continuing. Taking one name from 15 or so that have been used is simply suiting another agenda.

Fact is, we are into the 4th year of Brown's tenure and we have not found an 80 min hooker.

And to all of you who are snoring, snoozing, offended, upset, shaking your head, sick of the off season, wasting bandwith, fixated on another site, garbage collecting, finding parts of the discussion frustrating etc etc etc........ it is very easy to opt out.... or doesn't that suit you agenda?

To be perfectly fair how many class 80 minute hookers are actually playing?

There are a lot at other clubs that are bog average.

i really don't see what everyone's issue is with Levi.

I suspect it's a reaction borne of in-group loyalty following his reaction to being dumped to Cup in favour of Lamb.

The solution is simple for mine; Levi starts in the 9. and Buhrer in the 14.

Anyone who think Levi isn't the most talented hooker the club has had since Bedsy is f**king kidding themselves. He was a f**king 21 year old kid when Lamb and Slade were selected ahead of him. Most of us on this forum are 30+ and we can't even come to a consensus as to whether his disgruntlement was justified. He's a footballer, not a moral psychologist. It's all a learning experience. If we sign Klem and Glasby, Daifiti, Gavet all fire, Levi's running game will tear sides apart. He's 22 ffs and already played for the kiwis.
I think some in this forum need to look at the situation without having their lens coloured by their tribalist loyalty to the club and remember we're talking about normal kids, not robots.

Does it get back to Brown coaching then?
The lack of development?
Not a very good man manager?
Interested to hear your thoughts Joel-69

Given your reference to me as "Joel-69" and your tone I'm not sure you're after a serious response.
What I will say is this;

We have been dominated through the middle of the field for the last 4 years (at least). We've had children playing in key positions making child-like decisions. Signing Slade was a step in the direction of addressing these issues.
Slade is a big, strong 9 who is leaps and bounds ahead of Levi in defence. He's also 27 years old, has played in a GF and worked on his craft alongside the best hooker to play the game. My contention is had we already had the squad we have now, we'd have never signed Slade. The system that Levi would have slipped into would have been much more conducive to success for a young hooker that possesses his attributes.

Fact is, we are into the 4th year of Brown's tenure and we have not found an 80 min hooker.

Randall - Was here when Brown arrived - not part of a search - used out of necessity.
Bhana - Was used what once or twice off the bench as desperation cover. Not part of a search.
Levi - The best hooker at the club by a distance prior to Slade. Probably still more talented. Sure, include him in the search.
Pearsal - Played 3 matches for the club. Not part of a search.
Adams - 5 matches as injury cover under Brown. Not part of a solution.
Phythian - Used in 2 games as a bench utility then played his only starting match as a fullback. Doesn't even belong on this list. Probably the biggest reach on here. Jesus christ.
Feeney - Played a whopping ONE match as hooker in round 26. The definition of clutching at straws. Not part of a search for a full time #9.

What a waste of time this list is. Almost none of these are anything that can be considered part of a search for a full time number nine. Yes, this is petty.

Oh and..

Buhrer - Fill in only.
Watson - ZERO GAMES AT HOOKER. THIS LIST IS PATHETIC.
Griffin - A good hooker - included in the search for a full time #9.
Starling - Oooh look another 1 game at the end of an injury plagued year.

So of this pedantic, moronic list - 2 players have been selected by Brown to be tried as a full time hooker option.
Both are still with the club, both are still going to be used provided Griffin plays again.
This conversation is done - it is based entirely on hyperbole.

I reckon we should all take a deep breath, relax and remember one thing, we all support the same team (I think). We’ve all been through a terrible few years but things are on the up. Obviously there’s a few differing opinions, which is awesome because our club is built on passion and pride, however let’s remember we’re all meant to be on the same page. Regarding #9, I trust Browney (having bagged him in the past I think his recruitment has earned that) and some on here will be right and some wrong in hindsight regarding Mann, Griffin,Levi and Woolford. I propose that we stop bagging each other, support OUR TEAM, and whoever is wrong shouts those who we’re right a few beers once we win the comp in October. GO KNIGHTS!

So on a side note SMH are reporting that the Storm need to shop some players around to accommodate Cameron Smith’s massive contract (and massive ego by the looks of it) for next year. The players they’ve named are Sam Kasiano, Patrick Kaufusi and Cheyse Blair as guys that are being shopped. Does anyone think we would have any interest in these guys? Kasiano could be ok for depth but depends on how much $$$ we have left if we sign Klemmer. Also maybe Brown wants to wait a bit longer and fill the spot during the 2019 season.

I think we have space for one more and it's probably a back right?

None of them are much chop. Blair would replace Sio but add versatility Good for depth. Kasiano - hard pass. Kaufusi, no point.

Filled in for 15-20 minutes in the first 2 games after starting at 5/8. Did his shoulder early in round 3, didn't play any hooker. You're clutching at straws if you're including Watson, among others.

Bingo. Toyally agree. You have proven at length what we have been saying - a shit load of players used in the no. 9 position and still looking for that 80 min hooker. You probably missed a few tbh?

Great work.

The search continues......
