Craig Bellamy is off contract 2021. Smith will retire. Can only dream that he wants to retire somewhere close to home :joy:

The last premiership winning coach we picked up from the UK worked out well, so why not give this guy a go? ;)

I wouldn’t be against him on the proviso it was a set 2 year contract, with the possibility of an extension if we make the 8 within those 2 years.

No more rebuilds, I want a coach who can come in and get immediate results with the players we already have and they are capable of settling on a spine in the pre-season and not shuffling 5 players around to cover one injury.

Adam O’Brian has some pretty big wraps on him so might be a good option if we want an up and comer.

Flanagan annoys me because he tends to carry on a bit and always blames the refs when they lose but he’s an NRL premiership winning coach and there’s no doubt that he instilled a hard edge into that Cronulla team which we are severely lacking so could be the right fit if he became available.

Not many alternatives out there that I can think of unfortunately. McGuire would have been a good coach to go for but we’ve missed the boat there. Toovey is good for a blow up in the sheds but I’m not convinced that he’s actually a good tactician and the success that he did have was on the back of what Hasler built at Manly already.

Paul Green isn’t far off getting the sack at the Cowboys. He’s won a premiership as well but the decline of his team’s form over the last couple of seasons has been alarming. Maybe a change of scenery would be good for Green but I’m not sure on him at the moment.

To me he seems like just another undersized, vanilla back rower.

Haven't we got enough of those? Where are all the big, dynamic back rowers like kikau, pangai jr etc??
likely we cant afford them for next year. Brown ( and Toohey ) has said our cap room is much after next year. Until then we have to take vanilla I'd say.

So those players with contracts ending 2020 will likely be let go so we can buy others in the hope they will perform better at same or less cost and therefor seem to be building a strong squad that are virtually walking a tight rope and all this will build team harmony and build towards a strong squad depending on results and coach staying.
Of course it will

I reckon our squad will be less impressive on paper next year. Our hope would be that we'd bring juniors through but we usually fail with that.

Just read an article on fox sports that Kristian Woolf is favourite to take the St Helens job from next year. Looks like we’ll be looking for a new defensive coach next year

Excellent. I'm looking forward to him doing well over there and the brains trust here freaking out that we didn't get rid of Brown and sign him up ourselves.

It'll be another nice little thing to throw on the pile of shit to kick the club about.

I thought our management was semi competent now no?

In the current year of 2019, outrage doesn't need to make too much sense.

We used to blame management all the time for our failures. I assume Wests are still in their honeymoon period... but the knives will come out eventually. If Brown doesn't get the sack, I'm sure there will be people wanting answers. I'm personally really looking forward to the Spot On meltdown and another 12 months of slots and the fetid, rotting stick up his arse.

Hell, to be honest it's getting to the point where I want Brown sacked more so I don't have to read so much dribble and posturing about it on here than for any football related reasons. It'd be cool to be able to have some actual conversation and real analysis of the situation.
