Wouldn’t mind a winger like Meaney.

Oh that’s right happy to play on the wing for the Dogs but we couldn’t convince him to do that here.

To be fair, the Bulldogs offered him a fullback starting role that we couldn't give him. If nobody offered him anything, then I'm sure he would have played on the wing for us; simply for the Bulldogs, DWZ was an upgrade and for Meaney, it was either the wing or reserve grade. Makes sense he's content to play on the wing for them.

If you can convince a player they are part of something big they will do anything to be part of it.

We have let these players go, Meaney and Cogger playing well, think sometimes that we let them go because we bought and promised players positions so they left rather than be reserve graders. Might also happen with, Ese’ese, Levi and Ramien who will no doubt flourish at other clubs.

to be fair he wasn't promised anything (Hoppa played fullback round 1) but I think he knew he wasn't going to unseed Ponga. In any case I don't really rate Meaney, he gives you absolutely nothing in terms of kick returns, post contact metres and creating anything on his own. I think Naden was a far greater loss

Cogger is a case where people wanted him to be dropped and released because he wasn't performing.

Can't blame the player when it's convenient and shift it to the club when the narrative changes.

Cogger and Meaney aren't going as well as everyone is making out, they're solid but most Bulldogs fans have wanted them dropped at one stage or another during the year.

Going pretty well for dogs, think Cogger is going better than Lino and Meaney is better than Mann despite playing in a side below us.

It's a pretty low bar to judge on though, Lino was signed as a back up half, Cogger was signed to be the Bulldogs next starting halfback, in any case Cogger in 15 games has 2 try assists and 0 line break assists, Mitch Barnett has as many 2 assists and has more line break assists. In terms of Meaney of course he's a better winger than Mann, I might be a better winger than Mann, but considering he's started 17 games and fullback/wing, 2 tries and 2 line breaks isn't exactly a fanastic return.

Three-time UK Super League premiership-winning coach Shaun Wane has signalled a desire to come and test himself as a head coach in the NRL.
Wane, 54, coached 238 games for the Wigan Warriors during an eight-year tenure as head coach between 2011 and 2018 and boast a 68 per cent win ratio.

The one-time Great Britain forward coached the Warriors to premierships in 2013, 2016 and his final year at the helm in 2018.

The last premiership winning coach we picked up from the UK worked out well, so why not give this guy a go? ;)
