Why Lodge? Like seriously... Where is the Lodgic in that? But in all seriousness... We miss out on Staggs so we go for Lodge? How does that make any sense?

If Lodge is considerably cheaper than Klemmer then the deal makes
More sense if the swap is still even or ever was a chance of happening. I do not see the benefit to us, but if it is part of a wider recruitment strategy then I am curious how that unfolds.

Will be SUPER disappointed if we sign Lodge considering how the game has changed in the last 12 months, let alone the last 2 weeks.

Saw that. That's as inept as anything we could do. A frontrower from a club worse than us who isn't quick enough to keep up with the new pace of the game in a position where we already have 9 Safiti's; an unjustifiable reward for a utility who isn't good enough for one position and has directly cost us a number of games; and attempting to bring back an overpaid centre who can't tackle to slot onto an edge where the big problem is that no one can tackle. And this concluded with Phil Gardiner saying 'We've got to get our recruitment right'. Absolute madness.

Lodge - he's been discussed.

Mann - extension was on the cards but where do we play him? No room for both Watson and Mann as utilities. Mann in the centres is a kick in the teeth for the players we have bought and are showing promise in.

Gagai - too old. Gets too comfy (although stats are better this year). Same goes as with Mann. We play him on the wing and these younger guys don't get a real chance.
Reasons for letting Lee go were injuries and the cost of having a rep winger. But we want Gagai?
I'd rather stick with Hunt.

How much of a hand does Moses have in all this?

None of those three options should happen and Obi is not a coach if he allows it to happen.
Don’t need Lodge we have enough up front now unless we are loosing some we are unaware of.
Mann is virtually being replaced by Clifford along with Crossland improving, Watson being injury free, need an upgrade on Mann not extension.
Gagai is best option of three but he left and he is coming to twilight of career we need younger types like Coates

So does this mean Klem or a Saf is leaving?
Totally surprised by this news but the club should be held to account for dodging the queries when asked if the Lodge deal was true. Cos that just puts the team offside with the owners and coaches and now we will see the fallout that follows.

Whilst I don’t like Lodge for all the off field stuff he would provide us with some on field mongrel which we desperately need. But yeah I’d rather we not sign him given how uncomfortable that would feel.

I don’t dislike Mann and I think he’s made some valuable contributions to our side over the last few years, as well as some bad games too of course, but yeah where are we intending to play him? This one is a bit weird.

I’d be ok with Gags coming back as a winger provided he wanted to come back for the right reasons and the right money.

I keep hearing how we need more mongrel but this isn't the 80s anymore, you hit a bloke too hard and it's a sin bin, you stand over a bloke for half a second too long after a dominant tackle and it's a set restart. What we need more than 'mongrel' or in this case another big, slow, injury prone middle forward. I think what we're crying out for is a forward with abit of mobility, footwork and most importantly an offload/ball playing ability

Onfield mongrel is the last thing we need with these rule changes. Give me a team of Glasbys and Guerras.

Why do we need more mongrel? Don't we need more skilled and talented players? The age of the thug is over.

The problem with Mann is that he is a small winger/centre at best. If we don't offer Mann a contact, who else in the NRL would? He should just go to the ESL.

Lodge would be the worst signing ever. Bad public image, old, slow and not skilful. Why we trying to pick up garbage from the worst club in the NRL? They sign Ryendols and Hynes and we get their Lodge? That would just ensure another bottom 4 finish again.

I would be extremely pissed if we sign Lodge. To me that tells me the club doesn’t know what we need to advance us as a club.

I am not for re-signing Mann. He’s been here for a few years and we haven’t found a position for him where he can really be an asset to our team. To me that means experiment over, move on. We have Crossland now to fill his spot at 6 and I’d be in favor of re-signing Watson as our utility bloke.

Gagai I would be ok with at the right price. But I find it hard to think he wouldn’t be coming here to have a comfortable retirement.
