Rumoured Targets 3

Kai Pearce-Paul as a junior. Hard to gauge too much when he's dominating kids half his size but can clearly see the type of athlete he is. Has become a mainstay for Wigan and was recently picked in England's World Cup squad so apparently living up to the hype.
Guys it's happening! We are getting the English SBW. I never lost faith.

I know its Weidler but maybe Milford isn't coming here this year?

I thought I'd read the Knights had viewed the CCTV footage and are comfortable ? Would be a great depth signing, I'd try to sign him long term given the right price.

If he's found not guilty they can't really stand in his way, unless they want a lawsuit. The last line suggests Milf & his lawyers are ready to go down that path if it comes to it.

The fact he is willing to go to court to get a start here is a good sign regarding his drive. If Dolphins is his destination in 2023, he could just as easily use the year to get his body right for next season and save the lawyer money.

I don't know if it's his drive to play with us as much as it is just to get a salary playing football this year.

Either way... Our recruitment has been quite poor for a while now.. Seem to be missing the mark quite a bit over the last 6 or so months.

I think our recruitment attempts have been on the right track but we’ve had a few swings & misses if some of the rumours are true.

To me the possible Milford signing is a fairly low risk one if he’s on around $150K so it’s basically a free roll of the dice this year.

We’re probably not going to land a marquee signing because we don’t have money to throw around and unlimited TPAs like some other clubs but I feel like we’ve done well with recruiting guys who can provide value for $$$ and now it’s on the coaches to provide them with the right structure so they can develop.

Oh yeah, I don't disagree with that. Mostly meant in getting our targets across the line. Last few who have seemed to be locks have changed minds at the last minute or have had roadblocks placed in front of them.

My standards might haven become super low due to being a Knights supporter for so long but I think our recruitment has been spot on the past three to four years.

We used to get Carmonts, Ben Rogers, Shannon McDonnell, Isaac DE Gois etc. We might not have been successful with Luki but I'm sure glad we were a realistic chance of getting him.

Yeah as I mentioned before it seems like we’re targeting the right players but have missed out on a few recently. The club just needs to hold their nerve and wait for the right players at the right price rather than panic buying which we would have done in the past.

From my understanding and what I've heard re the Dolphins offer for 2023, Milford has to play NRL this year before they will ratify their offer to him...so his option to not play and 'get his body right' won't allow him to meet the terms the Dolphins have set out for him to play there in 2023

Just a hypothetical. Where do we rank in the NRL as a destination for players? Say 'Player A' gets an equal offer from all 16 NRL teams. He will be a starter and will be one of the highest paid players in the club. Would his selection be something like this?

1. Panthers
2. Storm
3. Roosters
4. Rabbitohs
5. Eels
6. Sea Eagles
7. Sharks
8. Raiders
9. Dragons
10. Titans
11. Broncos
12. Bulldogs
13. Knights
14. Warriors
15. Tigers
16. Cowboys

Would be assumption be about right?

in 1 of those player polls a couple of years ago we were something like 4th? from memory Brisbane, Roosters and Melbourne we above us. Titans were 5th? something like that, we were right up there.

We have signed some big name talent in the last four years. I think the issue of the last 12 months is more to do with a certain player manager, as has been already mentioned in a previous post.
