Few years back Brookes was good even very good but not so lately but things don’t seem right in tiger land. If he wants out we would be silly not to consider him.
We don’t have a back up 7 unless you count Crossland and Pythian is playing 7 in reserves without a 7 standing out in lower grades which means no one is likely within our system for a few years yet.
Cant see many, if any, quality halves coming on the market in near future except maybe Flanagan and he is struggling to prove himself at the dogs.
Its a case of take the punt or suck it up through another few years of what might have been.
You need a player of Clunes ability playing reserves to cover injuries in firsts

its pretty bad, the NRL had months to investigate but were hoping the courts would do their job for them, now they're doing an 11th hour sham investigation to claim some moral high ground.

Laughable when you know that if it were Souths, Roosters or even now the Dolphins, were requesting the same thing, he would be lining up for them this weekend

The Brooks topic is a tough one. He’s clearly got the talent but he’s been stuck in a losing system for a long time now, part of which he’s contributed to, and I’m not sure if his confidence can be repaired or if it’s completely shot now.

I do think we’d see improvement in him almost immediately if he came here but would he play consistently well enough to justify say around $500K when Clune has done a decent job for far less already?

All that being said there’s no doubt that we need more depth in the halves and if Brooks came in and learned from Joey and was able to bring something extra to our attack then it could work.

Ultimately it’s going to be a ballsy decision if it does end up happening. AOB could have his neck on the line if it doesn’t pay off.

The question is does "a decent job" win us a Premiership ? If the answer is no then we really do need to be looking elsewhere.

Clune is most likely a player best suited as a back-up half. In emergency break glass type squad filler.
