Rumoured Targets 3

Phyth has spent the better part of the last 3 years on the sideline, including doing the same ACL twice. Think we should see him get through a full season in reserve grade before we rely on him as part of our best 17.

Last I heard there's been complications and he hasn't even had the surgery yet, though this was a few weeks ago.

No matter what the situation we need a hooker as back up to Levi, not to fill in for 10-20 min a game, Buhrer can do that, but long term if injury occurs. We have been lucky/unlucky this year, Kostiwhatever injured for season, how would we have got on if Levi had been injured in early rounds, Buhrer full time or Randell.

Keep in mind we bought Watson to improve our halves, use him at hooker and you weaken one spot to strengthen another and that means multiple changes rather than replacing your 1st with the reserve

Is Rein really on good coin? Whenever i watched the dragons play last year, he came across like a hard worker who seriously lacked creativity and quality service.

Yeah he was diabolically bad at dragons, could barely pass the ball. Lichaa is about as bad at the dogs, des is going to get sacked for persisting with him for so long. Dragons last year and Dogs this year are about as bad attacking sides as you will see.

Randall been told he won't be offered a deal. Don't understand that tbh.

What are you on about? Des is the one pulling the strings in Lichaa's game. Mick Ennis has confirmed he was under the same instructions. What you see is what Des wants.

Lichaa was pretty good at the Sharks - he just doesn't gel with what Des is doing at the Dogs (to be fair he isn't alone).

He would come at half the coin that Rein would be asking. He could be really good for us.

I would be ok with either Lichaa or Rein if we could get one of them for $150k-$200k

Lichaa had massive wraps on him at the Sharks and apparently had a great running game but Des has ruined his game since he went to the Dogs, you only have to look at how Mick Ennis played after he left the dogs to see how Hasler's coaching style is affecting Lichaa's game.

I feel like Rein was also suffering from a similar situation at the Dragons over the last few years, basically was being over coached and was sticking to a very rigid game plan instead of playing what he sees. He's been tearing it up this year in NSW cup I've been hearing but isn't getting any NRL game time while Wallace is there.

I'd be reasonably happy with either one to be honest and they would be good for a 20-30 minute stint on the field each game.

Randall off to Wakefield confirmed. Also Wardle will be gone at seasons end

Def need another hooker now
Good luck to Randall, he did his best for us but not quite made it.
Wardle leaving is no surprise, home sick and realisation that can't quite cut it even in the weakest team.
Yes sign up a hooker, I don't care which one both have advantages but if up to me it's Lichaa because if he works out is better long term

Watson to join Knights

The nib Newcastle Knights are pleased to announce Connor Watson has signed a three-year contract with the Club, commencing in 2018.

Watson made his NRL debut at the Sydney Roosters in 2016 and has played 30 NRL games.

This year, the 21-year-old was named the Auckland Nines’ Player of the Tournament and also represented Country in the City Country Origin match.

“Connor is an exciting young talent who has plenty of great football ahead of him,” CEO Matt Gidley said.

“There is no doubt Connor will grow with our team and be a great addition to the Club.”

Watson joins Kalyn Ponga, Tautau Moga and Aidan Guerra at the Club in 2018, as well as Shaun Kenny-Dowall, who made his Club debut last weekend.

“It has been pleasing to announce a number of signings for next season, as we continue to build our squad with a mix of local juniors, emerging talent and experience,” Gidley concluded.

The Club would like to acknowledge the Sydney Roosters for releasing Watson from his contract.
