I don’t think signing 3 Jennings to fill 6 available slots in the squad is going to be good for our forward depth.
Doesn't seem so bad when we are already reported as interested in M Jennings, looking to offload Ross, would mean 4 spots left, 2 Props, a hooker and a versatile half 5/8. I am sure we would get another in 30 to cover for Griff long term injury.

Brown has said a number of times that there is a big gulf between Reserves and firsts, bigger than when he was in the game.
Is there really such a huge gulf or is it partly that we have issues transitioning players?
Usually, most players that work their way through the ranks go into a team that's fairly well established. Due to circumstances, we've thrown a lot of young guys into the deep end then asked them to swim hard.
I'll use Cogger and Lamb as examples. Both of these guys, according to Brown, showed promise in training. They get on the field in firsts and, with huge expectations on them, they struggled at times.
I'm not totally for buying in a team of experience but I reckon we need to for the sake of long term. We'll lose a lot of juniors who we will regret losing but we need it to get established..

Obviously Bulldogs would be 1, Panthers and the Raiders are tight I think.

Reading about Brandon Smith's attitude and willingness to sit tight and learn in more reserves before getting more first grade experience sits in stark contrast to our Danny boy. Both 22 years of age and one realizes he has to earn the jersey whilst the other thinks it's his god given right.

Smith has had the opportunity to learn directly from probably the greatest hooker of all time, has had his future at Melbourne secured for the last 3 or so season.

Not defending Levi's attitude but he was thrown into a side that lost time and time and time again, got beaten around the park, didn't win a game until the Gold Coast game last year. Could have left the club sooner but stuck it out.

Pretty f**king unfair to compare the two.

I dont think so. Both are young 22 yrs old and up and coming talent. Both have played for their country. One accepts he's not yet up to the task or is behind someone better than him, and the other ? well he does not. Sure the circumstances are very different but either way you cut slice or dice it the result for the both of them is the same. They need to work on their game and wait their turn.

The telling factor is attitude.

I wonder if Sione ends up on the bench next year if he will ask for a release ? I wonder if he went to the coach at any time over the last few years after being chopped and changed around position and asked to be released ?

I wonder if Ponga or Watson are contemplating leaving because they arent getting what they want positionally next year ? I dont think so. There is no "I" in "team."

The reports on Levi ( if true ) are an insight into the young mans attitude. A quiter never wins and a winner never quits

Why so many apologists for Levi's shithouse attitude?

Everyone jumped on the rossdog when he asked for more money, Levi throws a tantrum and demands a release every 5 minutes but that's fine?

Pretty sure the only Levi apologist on here is Old Dog
Everyone else thinks he's an entitled f**kwit and won't lose sleep if he leaves. I know I wont

I'm not condoning his attitude, supporting it or completely justifying it. I would gladly take another hooker over him.

That said, I do have sympathy for a lot of the young players who were thrown into first grade well before they were ready and clearly had their development stunted because of it. I can't overlook that and I get why so many like Levi have the mindset they currently have. It doesn't mean they're in the right or what they're doing, how they're going about their business is right, I just find it poor to treat them as if they haven't had it rough.

He has no reason to sook when he wasn’t even our first choice hooker to start the year. I can’t understand why he just doesn’t put the hard yards in to get the 9 jersey back. We don’t want that quitting attitude in the team anymore. Good riddance Levi, you entitled little prick
