Rumoured Targets 3

He shifted between 2nd and 3rd receiver (and occasionally 1st while Pearce was out), much the same as he will probably do next year. I honestly think the main difference is going to be that he has to make more tackles now. With the ball in hand 5/8th and fullback are practically interchangeable in the modern game.
yeh it's going to be interesting to see how it goes. Like I said before this move to 5/8 is on a hiding to nothing in the media if it doesnt work, it will be deemed a failure if we dont make the 8 and/or the Pong isnt in the running for the Dally M.

I really should re-phrase the above anyway... because halfback, 5/8th and fullback as far as attack goes are becoming more meaningless year on year. I guess the only thing a fullback doesn't do that a 5/8th might is play first receiver more often. I can't see that happening much while Pearce is healthy, though... in fact it shouldn't happen while Pearce is healthy.

We'll see how it goes, anyway. The only person who can really let us know how it's going to go is Kalyn when he takes the field... so we'll just have to wait and see. He has the skillset to make a fist of anything thrown at him.

I reckon we'll hold out on another hooker with the hope that Griffin will fully recover and be available for 2020.
Levi, with an attitude change, can hold it as long as we cover him so he doesn't get a full 80 mins. I hope he can work on being an 80 min player though. He'd need to learn when to step back
The challenge is on Levi

I don't have high hopes for Levi at the moment. Hasn't kicked on, and throws his toys out of the pram too often for my liking. His comeback game this year was a good game, then the remaining ones it was straight back to the same old stupid, greedy shit.

Coach should be in Levi's ear from now until season start about what he has to do to fit in with the team pointing out areas to improve his game and attitude, that's called coaching.
He is potentially a good enough player but needs to fine tune his game and develop.

I've no doubt the coach has been in his ear, but obviously to no avail. Perhaps that's why he wasnt in the starting team at the start of the season contrary to the belief of all and sundry including Levi himself that he should have been there.?

Anyone can develop into what ever they want to be on the account that they have the right attitude. It's the attitude of Levi that has me concerned. His ability is there and his potential is off the charts.

Zac Woolford is a gun, and a leader - has captained every junior team he has been in.

I reckon he is a good shot of starting the year in the 9 for us.

Levi will start his biggest problem like all off us is that what is learnt and what comes naturally from years 5-15 is instilled in our habit/makeup it comes back under pressure no matter what you do what. I remember a coach telling me this when I was 21 and it happens in all sports, it's very difficult to overcome what has become a habit, like all habits they are difficult to overcome..

With Levi I could see early promise. When we had mostly just the young guys the pack seemed more organised behind him.
I liked him milking some penalties and then I became annoyed with his niggles.
When Brown mentioned that he tended to be a bit selfish I focused more and realised it. Then he fell out of favour with me more.
If I go back then I like the metres he is capable of making from dummy half and some of his deceptive passes when backed up by a forward. There's a lot of Bedsy's influence in that.
How he will go I have no clue but something definitely needs to change

Reports are saying a player swap between Michael Jennings and the rossdawg is going to happen....... I've always been confused by the Jennings rumour... I thought our 2-5 was sorted..... Surely he isn't coming here to play reserve grade / injury cover?

Thought report said Jennings not signed due waiting on Ross making up his mind, assume stay, ESL or swap.
If goes ahead assume Jennings will play centre until Moga is fit and good enough to oust him. Jennings may be a bit past best but better cover than Ross for centre. If Ross stays then no Jennings not enough room numbers wise.

Apparently Klemmer, Jennings and Mann all have the same manager.

I've never been a fan of Jennings, even when he was playing rep footy. Last season was a poor one for him. He has proven to be a decent defensive centre over his career and we haven't had centres that can tackle for a hell of a long time.

I just can't warm to him though.

No, the report said we won't get Jennings unless we can offload Ross

I’m gonna be in the minority here, but I’d take Jennings over Ross. I know Rossy has heart, but man we need backs that make good defensive decisions.

Talent wise Jenko is all over Ross.
It's hard to gauge either of their current abilities based on the respective dumpster fires they've been playing for though.
Jenko clearly had a greater ceiling.
I think it was the game vs Souths (?) this year where they targeted Jennings side and the flood gates opened.
Quick comparison -

I think the above stats have Jennings a bit in front but Ross is more a winger than a centre so I guess it depends on what we need/want. The Moga doubt, hope he makes it, has me definately leaning towards a need for centre and it Moga makes it back he could play wing if we had injuries.

I hate to be that guy, but I don't like the chances of Moga having a rugby league career. Therefore, the Jennings signing makes sense otherwise we're in the precarious situation of being short a centre again.

Agreed.
At this point its hard to trust Tau's knees. I hope for his sake he recovers and has a long successful career but it seems like Kyle Stanley 2.0
