Rumoured Targets 3

I'd also like to live in the fantasy land where the Knights just go out and sign players like Munster and Smith. What do the Knights have to offer other than money?
Re-signing Kayln Ponga goes some way to enticing some quality to Newy.

Newcastle would have to be one of the best places to live, the people, lifestyle, coastline, lake, vinyards and cost of living is a factor also. The club could do much much better in its marketing of itself to highlight the lifestyle and area the players enjoy in Newcastle. It was given nature gifts other clubs could only dream of.

He sat unsigned, and the raiders only picked him up on a development deal. If it was an idiot move to let him go, he would have clubs scrambling over themselves to sign him, considering he wanted peanuts.

Pure hindsight call from you on that one.

Foresight by the coach at the club at the time he was playing (and being developed) would have been pure coaching nous. But it was a time when it was pretty cool to set a record for going through as many number 9s as possible before buying a utility back (Kurt Mann) to become your first grade hooker which was a stupid idea.

No one in here needed hindsight to see that.

Miss you Browny!

Rubbish. Foresight doesn't mean sticking with a bloke that has shown nothing.

The game went Starlings way. Unless you're suggesting Ricky set that trend with his "coaching nous".

Starling was an undersized hooker not looking likely to achieve much. Then he goes to Canberra and 6-again era begins, and it suits him to a tee, using his speed against tired middles.

He still wouldn't be a target of mine now.

Kurt Mann isnt first grade anything, even bench is highly debatable and in my opinion only in an emergency.
It's actually hilarious how we've had 2 coaches in a row willing to die on the "Kurt Mann is a first grade footballer" hill. Imagine putting this bloke in crucial roles in your football team week in, week out and thinking to yourself "I'm a f**king genius".

it beggars belief. Almost worthy of an independent audit . Does a certain player manager have too much sway over the club? I think it's self evident.

Not if you're a young single bloke with a wallet full of cash.

Munster and cheese don't strike me as "classy weekend in the vineyards" type operators.

Well we had the nightlife once upon a time until people thought it would be a good idea to listen to that Tony Brown f*ckwit, bring in the lockout laws and systematically wipe out all the nightclubs.

Now the Newcastle CBD is a giant, quiet Aveo retirement village thanks to that f*ckwit. I was embarrassed to show my wife that deserted hole when I came back in 2020 for round 1 against the Warriors. Oh yeah that’s where the Mercury used to be, this spot is where Surf City was bulldozed to the ground.

What's up with that? I live in Korea and here everything is almost 24 hours. Can't imagine going back and having to be stuck at home from 7pm.

If your average nimby yokel moved into an apartment in Seoul and started complaining about the noise they would get laughed out of town.

In Newcastle they’re listened to by the council, covered by the local media and worst of all respected for their outdated opinions.

the sweet memories of my teens, surf and head down to the Cambridge Hotel for Big Bam Boom. Chill'n at the Brewery and heading into the Castle or Fanny's .....God they were good days, the best of days.

Mad enough we are letting him go 2023 but surely they won’t for this season especially with injuries and poor performances

Did I hear correctly that Curran had a knee injury in the loss to Melbourne? If so, look for them to try and get Barnett early.
