Rumoured Targets 3

Did I hear correctly that Curran had a knee injury in the loss to Melbourne? If so, look for them to try and get Barnett early.
Surely the club doesn't genuinely risk getting the spoon by letting him go without an equal or better immediate replacement.

It does sound like a Knights thing to do though...

Fitzgibbon extends stay at Knights

Lachlan Fitzgibbon has taken up his one-year deal at the Knights and could find himself back as a regular starter given the impending departure of Mitch Barnett.

Fitzgibbon, who is sidelined with a serious knee injury, had an option in his favour to take up an extra 12 months at the club. He had activated that extension.

Backrow teammate Tyson Frizell also has an option in his favour to remain at the club for 2023 but is yet to take up that deal.

Is this why our recruitment and signings has been stagnant? It's almost like we don't know how much we have to spend for next year.

How on earth did we give a player option to Fitzgibbon - that is just crazy, unless it's close to minimum and Fitz just wants to keep playing.

Nothing would surprise me. Mann was 1 of our highest paid players last contract before this one. Just imagine that for a moment.

Fitzgibbon given a player option is laughable even at a minimum salary.

And then we banked on him being a starter. Literally no-one else wanted him, and somehow we couldn't see the writing on the wall that maybe he's not that great.

Like sure, keep him on minimum wage as a depth player... but why is he the second best backrower at the club?
We endured the hard climb back with Brown building a decent roster only to see it squandered away by these imbeciles currently in charge of it

I am sure the belief is they can build a better one rather than ask what is they are doing that killed the current one. Why a side with three gun origin forwards can’t dominate lesser packs is a start.

The 3 gun origin forwards have a run on support cast made up of a less than great back up hooker , a reserve grade quality lock and secondrower.

and in totally unrelated news NIB has announced it will continue as the major sponsor for at least another year......
Said truth is Fitz, Crossland, Hoy, Saulo, Johns and Randall were all off contract last year and had zero interest from other suitors and all got top 30 deals here.

Just watched this:

Basically, the salary cap has made it really fair and in the past 8 years, 6 different sides have won the Premiership, 9 have made the grand final and 15 clubs have made the top 8.

Looks like even the Tigers and Broncos look like they have been improving lately. Are we literally the only team to continue to suck forever and ever?

We came 8th twice, they would say that’s our “rising to the top” bubble

It’s funny how injuries change your views on players, Fitz for example most don’t like but if he was fit now they would love to have him play. Hoy, most hate him or at least don’t like him but at the moment he is seen as a good backup. Thompson most see as a bit new and raw to league but injuries have many wishing him to play up front or even 2nd row. Then we have the other views, Sasagi, totally untried but let’s give him a go cause he is seen as better option, forget he may be played early in a weak side and never recover.
Discussion has been on who can we get for next season, even considering players on contract for another season or two yet we hate that Barnett may go early for next season.
We can’t make our mind up if we need a 6 or a 7, find a 6 and drop Clune, move Clifford to 7 or find a 7 and leave Clifford at 6.
Then we blame management for not signing the right players in the right places but no matter what we reserve the right to complain about it all
It is so good to be a Knights supporter.

look on the bright side - we must have beaten half a dozen clubs to the prized signature of Kurt Mann.
